Creeper trail
We visit the creeper trail every fall and this was the first time we stayed at this property. It is in a very nice location — beautiful surroundings and scenery. The property itself was very clean. The only concern was that one of the dogs across the way came up very close to the house and scared a couple of friends of ours! As expected, animals are unleashed out in the country :-),

I've talked with the neighbor in the past and she said she would keep them inside when people are there. I was wondering if they were keeping them inside, since no one has mentioned them coming over in quite a while. The county does have a leash law and they should be kept in the owners yard. It's sad they don't keep them in because they chase cars and I expect them to get hit at some point.

Fall Getaway
Home was lovely. Clean, comfortable, well equipped. Brought family to enjoy a long weekend and do some hiking. This was the perfect place to enjoy family time, eat meals together, have plenty of space to spread out. Beds very comfortable. Lovely rural area. Very responsive host that thought of everything we could have needed. I would highly recommend this home.

Perfect hideaway
This was the perfect spot for us to stay as my husband ran the Yeti. This cozy place is located less than 5 min from the VA Creeper Trail - Alvarado entrance. While there were only 3 in our party, the house easily could have housed a group of 6. The host even provided coffee (now you will forever hold my heart.). The flowers outside and pumpkins growing along the house brought a smile to my face. We will definitely be looking at staying here again.

We stayed at this VRBO once before in the winter and loved it. And now we love it in the summer. So clean, everything we needed was provided. Plenty of towels and washcloths. Very quiet and peaceful, plenty of room for the kids to play. Next up—a stay in the fall!

A pleasure to stay
It was a pleasure to stay here beside the regular amenities, towels, dishes, etc. There was a nice assortment of games for all ages. If you forgot a book, there is good selection of different genres. Just sitting outside and listening to the sounds of birds, goats, cows was relaxing. A good place to relax.

We enjoyed our stay. The house was easy to find. Lots of room in the yard for games. Quiet neighborhood. We walked across the street to pet the horses. The horses were friendly and my grandson enjoyed petting the horses.

Perfect place to stay for a vacation in Abingdon, VA
Everything at Alvarado was just what we wanted. Privacy, deer, great weather, and a pool table for those times you are waiting for others to get ready or maybe it's not your night to cook. It was wonderful and the host, Marcella, was very accommodating and great to work with!

Quiet, Peaceful, Clean
We enjoyed our stay in this very clean house. We appreciated having a place to store our bicycles. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of hot water for the showers, and our host was very responsive. Our cell service was spotty there but having a land line available was a great plus for us since my husband had to be available for work calls. It’s out in the country but a short and scenic drive to town.

Very Nice!

Nice location/ well labeled
We stayed at the property while in town for the Yeti 100. The house was easy to find with a big sign out front. It is clean and well stocked with supplies. The location is great with horse fields across the street. It is very close to Abingdon Vineyards and close to the Yeti Alvarado aid station. It is about a 15 - 20 minute drive to either Abingdon or Damascus.

Home was nice. Exceptionally clean!!! Very quiet neighborhood.
Towed a trailer with a motorcycle to do some riding. Enough parking for trailer and truck. Loved sitting out back in the evenings watching and listening to the birds (soo many). Saw a fawn in the tall grass out back, several deer in the upper field and a little bunny!! Convenient to stores, shopping and restaurants. Loved the area, did lots of riding. Took a trip to Plum Creek Winery, would highly recommend if you like sweet fruit wine. Would definitely stay again. The only complaint would be that you get one key that only opens the back door, it would have been nice to go in from the downstairs.

Nice house in the back country
Check in was simple, house was in great shape. Had all of the necessary items we needed for our stay. Short drive to a great little public use area on the river on the Va Creeper Trail. Wi-Fi worked great which helped because we had no service on our phones.

This has to be the Cleanest, most comfortable place to stay
We had 3 of our grands for the weekend and needed a place close to the Abingdon Vineyard. This is a true gem, nothing fancy but great beds, well equipped kitchen and a nice yard the kids played in. Our daughters family came for breakfast and we cooked pancakes in the pancake pan and everyone loved them! We highly recommend this accommodation!

Nice Stay
The house was clean, and well appointed. There was plenty of hot water for the shower, and the water pressure was good. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. The HVAC unit kept us comfortable. The owner/property manager was accommodating and very easy to work with. The check in/out process was clearly stated, and a simple process. The only thing that needed clarification was it said soap was included. Hand soap at the sinks was included. Bars of bath soap (which hotels usually have) we're not. The only other thing to note was the house "creaks" as you walk around it. That may bother some people, but we didn't mind. We enjoyed our stay, would stay there again, and would recommend it to others.

Great place for family to gather.
We had a wonderful time there. My husband and I nd met with our kids and 3 grandkids ages 4 to 8. The beds were comfy. The kitchen was cozy with everything we needed. The basement had beds and perfect place for those in our party who like cool sleeping. The children really appreciated the shelf with games and activities. There were clear instructions about everything. We could have had a little fire outside but we were too tired from our bike riding during the day! The drive into Abingdon or Damascus is not bad. The scenery getting to and from the house is stunning. We hope to return there often.

The house and property are very nice. The home is perfect for a family getaway. We were able to prepare our part of Christmas dinner in the well-equipped kitchen. This is a very comfortable and convenient home close to Alvarado station and the Winery. It.has a basement entrance with a concrete floor perfect for bike storage. The two bathrooms come with plentiful clean towels and washcloths (always nice). We had fun building a fire in the firepit in the beautiful field next to home.

Cute House in the Hills Ten Minutes from Creeper Trail
My two girlfriends and I stayed here for three nights in October and had a great time! The owners supplied fresh towels, washcloths, dish cloths and detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, and much more. We used three lovely, comfortable bedrooms, but there were two twin beds in the basement as well, with a washer and dryer which we didn’t use. It was meticulously cleaned and fresh for our arrival. Great wifi but phone service was spotty. The owners installed a house phone which we used successfully. The property has a hill to get to the door, but you can greet your guests through the basement level and they can enter and climb the basement steps to enter the house. I would say that the property is not handicapped accessible, which the owners state. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return.

Nice and quiet in the country. The fabulous Virginia Creeper Trail is a couple of minutes away. Abingdon is a terrific town going to the left and Damascus is the same going to the right. If you need groceries go to Food City in Abingdon. Clean and terrific. Excellent staff. Farmers Market. Shopping. History. I thought to myself this area has everything you need. 100% I will stay there again. Thank you

Comfy, Clean, and Nostalgia inducing
We stayed in this home with another family during our VA Creeper Trail trip. There were plenty of beds and the house was comfortable. The kids said they felt like they were at Granny's house! It is an older house that has been up-fitted for renting but very clean and not a speck of dust to be found. The kids read books and had fun hunting down the little surprises and spent the rest of the time catching fireflies and playing in the creek. I enjoyed watching the hummingbirds feed and the kids running around outside through the kitchen window. It was so nice not to have to bring our own paper goods. The house was clean and well-furnished. Sheets and towels were fresh and clean. There's also a perfect place to stash your bikes in the basement overnight if you wish. Owners were very communicative and considerate. The drive into town was easy and our VA Creeper shuttle was a short drive as well. Definitely recommend for families and medium sized groups.

Perfect quiet spot
We stayed here with two other families as a place to stay to go ride the Virginia Creeper. The creek is pretty, the kids (8 year olds) LOVED the little “extra” (don’t want to give it away) and the fields were full of fireflies.

This time of the year the leaves are beautiful especially if we have had a lot of rain. This year we have really had the rain so the leaves are staying on the trees a lot longer and are turning just beautiful colors. We came to ride the creeper trail. This place was perfect for us and is conveniently located to both Damascus and Abingdon.
