Mooi hotel in rustige prachtige omgeving. Strand heel mooi en zeer rustig. Geen opdringerige verkoopwrs. Hotel is verder prima met ontbijtbuffet. Zeer mooie grote kamers. Dorp moet nog wel groeien.

We had a very disappointing and sad experience here :( I really hope things can change for the better in the future at this resort because they have an incredible location and nice staff members. The first and second rooms we entered were so hard to breathe in because of a strong musty smell (like a basement) that we moved to a third room. We were getting settled into the third room when we noticed the A/C did not work. We waited for the technician to fix it, but the wait became too long for us. We were also concerned that the problems would only continue, so we decided to leave the resort after a few hours. They were kind to offer us a fourth room, but we did not want to wait for it to be ready and were very concerned about the quality of the resort as a whole at that point. We went to the resort next door and had a fantastic time there. While I understand these things happen, the most disappointing part was the refund request experience. Despite multiple requests, the resort did not provide us with a refund. The refund policy is very strict, with little flexibility based on our experience. We have no hard feelings, as this is business, but I wish we had read more of the lower-rated reviews before booking so we could have had a fuller understanding of what we were getting into. I wish all the best for this resort, but I would encourage you to look elsewhere if you are sensitive to smells in rooms. I hope things can change for the better—there is so much potential there!

Yes — those are useful details because they tell people what to expect and what to take advantage of while they’re there. I’d word it like this: I really enjoyed my stay at Riu Guanacaste. The resort is beautiful, and one of my favorite things was seeing the wild monkeys around the property and near the beach. Definitely take advantage of Scuba Caribe on site for excursions, and Nexus Tours also has representatives at the resort who can help with bookings. The food was tolerable, although honestly I didn’t find the food particularly good anywhere I went in Costa Rica. I don’t drink, but my family felt the alcoholic drinks weren’t very good, so that may be something to keep in mind if drinks are important to you. Overall, we had a great stay. It’s a beautiful location and a great base for exploring Guanacaste. I’d stay there again.
