The municipality of Karft is located in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district between Wittenburg and Zarrentin on the Schalsee, about 35 kilometers from Schwerin. The old town of the small town of Wittenburg is surrounded by a well-preserved rampart, the tower and wall remains of which have been restored. The church and town hall of Wittenburg are also worth seeing. Shops, restaurants and cafés can be found in the town.
