Well kept colonial townhouse 5 min walk from the beach. Traveled with toddlers, so walking to the beach or up to the pool was a bit of a challenge. There’s some noise from the road, but we used WN to sleep, so didn’t really notice. The facilities are great, house had everything we needed. Would stay again.

Beautiful Views!

The place was clean and neat. The beds were not as soft as I like them to be, but they worked well. It was a great 3 bedroom place. We had 8 adults so some had to sleep on bunk beds, which worked but wasn’t the most comfortable. The location was great, if you want something not in the main tourist area. We had a car so it was easy to get to places we wanted. The villa we were in faced the ocean so it had amazing views. This also meant that it faced the road, which was a lot busier than expected and louder at night than we would have liked. We needed to get ear plugs because of the noise. Overall it was a great place! And the pool was the best part! Beautiful views and the best place to watch the sunset!

Very spacious house

Ourbfamily of 8 really enjoyed our 3 nights here. The family room was a great size and connected the the kitchen making it really easy to hang out. Nice to have a dishwasher. The beaches are close but you have to cross the street so we still ended up driving. The pool was really fun too. Ac was very nice because it was hot outside!! Host also helped us book a sun set snorkling tour at a discounted price. Would stay a here again.

The house is beautiful and clean. The kitchen was well equipped, and the rooms were comfortable. We loved the infinity pool. The place is also convenient to walk into town.

the house has amazing views!!

The host was very responsive and even late at night, she accommodated my group quickly. The house had everything we needed. beach towels, beach chairs and kitchen amenities. The only downside is that there are alot of ants inside the property but i know its common around the area so we got bit quite a few times unfortunately. The pool area has a grill and common area to share. Overall great experience, we definitely will be coming back.

Worth it

The property was as-advertised. Plenty of accommodations inside the villa and the views from the shared infinity pool were breathtaking. Something not mentioned in the listing was the pool deck has a grill and an area for entertaining, which has a lot of potential for fun. Only one issue our first night. the jacuzzi tub in the master suite had an ant infestation, only discovered after the jets were turned on and ants came pouring out, into the tub. It happened late and there wasn’t anything the property managers could do at night, but they did answer my call and assured me they’d have someone come first thing in the morning to spray for the ants. We ended up having to go get our own bug repellent because they kept coming out even after the tub was drained. Even with this the stay was great. After the double spraying of nontoxic bug repellent the ant sightings were more normal- which it’s Costa Rica so there’s going to be ants and bugs, it’s part of the experience- but the property did comp us the first night for the issue since it ended up kicking the couple staying in the master suite out of their room due to the amount of ants. By the second night they were able to sleep in that room and it was fine from there on out. Check out was a little unknown since there weren’t any checkout instructions, but again our host was easy to communicate with and ultimately made the experience a positive one. Even with the ants, we’d stay here again.

We loved our stay. Away from the more populated touristy areas but sitll close enough to enjoy beautiful beaches. It was perfect! The house was clean and planty of room for all of us.

Spacious House Near Two Great Beaches

Our family had a wonderful time at this property. It is much more spacious than I was imagining the bunk bed bedroom is upstairs and the primary and the twin bedroom are down stairs. Each has its own bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked, but be sure to go to the grocery store on your way there. While there were coffee filters and a few spices, there was no coffee and we ended up having to buy some washing machine detergent as that was also running low. While the house is close to several famous Costa Rica Beaches, we actually preferred Playa Preita which is a short walk away. They had beach towels, a cooler, chairs, etc. all at the property. Communication with Krain Concierge was also wonderful and they helped us book a snorkel tour and also answers many of our questions during our stay over What's App. Having the washing machine was wonderful too with all of the beach time and sand. The sunsets from the infinity pool are also amazing. Only negatives are that the house is very close to the road so there is a lot of noise of cars/motorcycles/dogs/people. The beds are also creaky and made noise as you turned in the night. The view from the balcony is hard to beat though. Our family of five had a wonderful stay here. Kids ages 13, 10, 10.

Great condo, we really didn’t get to use the pool, it was a bit away from our condo… The condo was great, beautiful views… The beaches were remote with no chairs or cabana’s to rent so plan accordingly…

View of the Pacific is wonderful!

Very beautiful villa! Loved sitting on the balcony and listening to the ocean, even in the rain! Wonderful having a washer & dryer right there. My son found a path to a 2nd beach and that was so cool. Would definitely stay again. So many great beaches & restaurants near here!

Amazing Experience!

WOW pretty much sums it up! The house itself had everything we needed, and more than enough space for our family of 5. We enjoyed every sunset by the infinity pool, visited many local beaches and had some amazing meals. Don’t be afraid to try the local sodas! Krain did an excellent job of hooking us up with horseback riding and the combo tour day consisting of zip lining, hot springs and water slide. That tour was a favorite of our daughters (ages 6, 8 & 9)! We appreciated the beach toys, towels and chairs provided for our beach days. I loved having a washing machine right there in the house! We would absolutely return to Villas Catalinas!

Very nice place

Condo: 5 Stars. The condo is beautiful. Great kitchen and beautiful view. Comfortable beds, old pillows. The pool is a bit of a climb from the condo (straight up the hill) but amazing view. Location: Very sleepy little town. Not many options for restaurants, and no surf board rentals. Concierge Tony was quick to respond though not very helpful about finding surfing/boogie Board options.

A fantastic week in Costa Rica

Tony and all Krain employees were just wonderful. We loved the location. A minor suggestion would be to have written instructions available on how things work (like the AC or the shower) to make setting down easier after a long day of travel. Also, some minor fixes like tightening door handles to spruce up but seriously, the view and the pool were so amazing. We just loved our week there.

An amazing family vacation in Potrero!

I can't say enough about this amazing property! You could not get a better view (morning, afternoon & evening - including nightly sunsets on the horizon). The gate guards are nicest people. The unit comes with everything you need including soft beds, a very open main-area layout, a fully prepared kitchen with all the comforts, beach towels/beach chairs, working AC and plenty of hot water in the 3 BATHROOMS! When they say you are a few minute walk to two of the nicest beaches - they aren't kidding! We were there in mid-February and felt like we had the both beaches almost all to ourselves - and they are gorgeous. Close enough to grocery stores, restaurants, and excursions but set outside of town enough to feel totally private. The infinity pool was an awesome way to end the day watching the sun go down. Two small "quirks" are the rooster(s) across the street and the trucks heading to work pretty early in the morning right past your window. For us they became a part of the overall experience much more than a drawback, but be prepared for early morning noises. Hands down, 100% we would stay here again and I highly recommend it!

Great second vacation at Villas Catalina

This is our second time at this condo. Great sunsets and walking distance to two beautiful beaches, as well short distances to restaurants. Condo was very spacious for the 6 of us and two children. KRAIN are top notch as well and make the check in process easy, are very responsive as well as heplful in making any arrangements you wish.

Our new favorite place in Costa Rica

This is out 8th time in Costa Rica and a refreshing change to our normal choices in Tamarindo. Play Potrero is a fabulous area. Very chill and relaxing with everything we needed in the neighborhood. Having Playa La Penca right in front of this condo was fantastic. Quiet beach with nobody trying to sell us anything! This condo is very large and has everything you will need and then some. The views are outstanding and the facilities as well. The pool is the icing on the cake - spectacular! Krain made our stay super easy from check in to check out. Simple and quick. Excellent communication. Would we return to this property in the future? In a heartbeat- we were sorry to leave!
