Beautiful but disappointing

Driving up to the building it is very impressive. It is a beautiful building and setting. However, no signage about where reception is so wandering around with a heavy case not great. Room was beautiful but it lacked the luxury advertised. No glasses for water or in the bathroom. No tissues. Basic tea and coffee. Breakfast was very standard and not cooked to order which I would have expected from a luxury B&B. The staff were lovely and it really is very pretty but it just needs some tweaks to make it luxury.

Lovely 2 night stay

Stay brilliant, very clean ,chap on reception and staff very helpful, nice and peaceful with a great pub nearby. Small point tv could move to kettle area to allow light in from small window, (Julias Caesar room)

Unfortunate 2 night stay in charming building and

The setting and accommodation were lovely, however on the first morning I had no water - this was apparently due to an electrical issue. The second morning I had water but it was stone cold - so all in all it was not a great experience, especially given the cost. The staff did apologise but did not offer any form of compensation.

The room had a very modern appearance and was very cosy. However, I specifically selected a booking option that included a king size bed and paid extra for it. We only got a room with a standard double bed. When I challenged the receptionist about this, she was adamant that King Richard had a king size bed, which it very definitely didn’t, and was not prepared to do anything about it.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay, the staff were so kind and generous with time. I'd highly recommend others to stay here

Each time we come the house is a little more tired, the service a little more haphazard. Emailed them to ask about dinner & to say it's a special occasion. Heard nothing so made own arrangements then just before the stay got a blanket email advising of dinner. On arrival couldn't get into the property, a queue of 3 cars waiting as the bell didn't work or there wasn't someone at reception. Had to call by mobile to get them to open the gates on entering reception no apology the receptionist made us feel as if it was our issue! We are repeat customers but they hadn't a clue even though I had emailed to say special occasion. An acknowledgment by name when chking in after a number of visits isn't a big ask. The place is looking a little tired, the bed lines not crisp a bit limp, stains on the carpets it feels like it hasn't had any investment or if it has it is sparse but at least the shower in the bathroom worked this time as last time in the room Othello it was a pathetic damp, drip. Went down to breakfast at 9.15am to find none left - no fruit, no hot food only 2 pieces of bread. Mentioned it to the waitress receptionist (who really should think of whether hospitality is the right choice for her as at best throughout the stay she was sullen) said she would speak to the chef who came out to chk if we wanted a cooked breakfast waited and waited until I got up to find that they had put some hot food in the containers but nobody had bothered to tell us. Disappointing all round.

Great break away

Lovely venue, staff super friendly, room was as described. Breakfast was great. Mattress was too soft, heat control kept defaulting back to the original setting, hot water in bath ran out while it was till filling and the fairtrade tea had a weird taste so we couldnt drink it, but apart from those few fixable things, we really enjoyed our stay and would deffo stay again.

Cotswold Hideaway

A beautiful old property that has been sympathetically modernised in a delightful ancient village. We were slightly disappointed that the restaurant was closed the night we were there but the pub, only 150 yards away was excellent. Comfortable night and a good breakfast.

A beautiful old building with character, rooms tastefully done and magnificent grounds. Breakfast really good too. Friendly owners and staff. Would thorough recommend and would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful building, but be hard to find. The poor young man on check in came out in the pouring rain to find me after my third attempt phoning up for directions. He was a real hero that evening. Unusual for a hotel, you have to be checked in by 8 or there's a £25 penalty. If you're a nervous traveller (I'm not, but know a few), being behind a high wall and locked gates will be comforting. Beautiful village to walk around. Downside is being next to the spectacular church and churchyard. The bells sound all night. There are no lifts and disabled access is likely to be difficult. The absolute worst part, and what guaranteed i had absolutely no sleep (which I didn't need the night before starting my new job) was the heat in the room. When I got in the heating was on full, with the window open. I couldn't get the temperature down. It was 24 degrees in the room, which isn't even a healthy temperature for sleeping in. The church bells made opening the window a poor option. It was one of the most uncomfortable nights I can remember. Shame really, as there is so much going for it.
