You receive excellent communications from the host on location and how to gain access to the keys. I was in Flat 4 which had a well stocked kitchen with pans, cutlery and utensils. The lounge area had 2 large sofas and a large tv with access to netflix. I had the choice of either bedroom but the master was superb with a 10/10 mattress and pillows to suit. Very warm inside and there was also a balcony with chairs and table had the weather been right. I'll be staying again as much better than a hotel.
The property, facilities and location were all excellent and I would definitely recommend a stay based on these points. However, communication and check in were poor, as we hadnât received any information about how or where to park, collect key codes or which actual apartment we were in until I chased the night before. Then we only got it once we had spent 6 hours in the car and arrived in the car park, rang a number from the website which was a wrong number and then finally got hold of Sally. Also, when booking through Expedia, there is no mention of extra costs for pets - only once weâd committed to a non refundable booking did we get told it would be another ÂŁ20 per night for the dog. If you can see past these issues itâs a lovely place to stay!
Overall very clean & comfortable. However a few suggestions to consider. Main bedroom a waste bin & hook on door to hang dressing goo/clothes. Shower room does need refurbishment- mirror above sink too high & too small. Dark grey toweling not very appealling. Kitchen very clean but markings on knobs on job no longer exist, same for oven very difficult to see clearly markings for oven/grill, 2 dinner plates chipped & cutlery needs to be all one design , kitchen tools could also be upgraded. Good kettle & toaster & microwave. Lounge comfortable, coasters for hot drinks to safe guard furniture would be useful. A faint smell of dog was evident when we arrived but after opening the windows this was less so. I hope the above is helpful. I have stayed at a number of Holiday Property Bond properties both in the UK & abroad & it is against these that I am making the comparison & hence the above suggestions.
This cottage is great and I would highly recommend it to stay in due to it's comfort cleanliness and location HOWEVER, Hotels.com do not have ANYWHERE on their website that there is a maximum of 1 dog and that there is an additional charge for the dog. I found this out when i received communication from the cottage owner - i called her to explain I had 2 dogs and she said that was OK BUT there was an additional ÂŁ20 per night per dog so I paid an additional ÂŁ80, my dogs are cleaner than most kids!!! If this had not been a last minute booking and i had already paid the rest of the amount and it was exactly where I wanted I would have resisted. The owner states it is clear on all her information but it is HOTELS.com who have not published this information. Other than this I do recommend the cottage
We stayed for a week in the 2 bed self catering apartment. It was great. The bed was really comfy, shower wad great, the whole apartment was really clean. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment etc if you're planning to cook there. The apartment was a 5 min walk downhill to Charlestown, which was so handy!
Short notice booking with Hotels.com. Initially some confusion re location of property on Hotels.com app but resolved quickly by Sally who manages the property.
Clean modern property close to beach. Ideal for a stay in St Austell.
