Overall, I would NOT recommend this house as it stands now.
The beds were lumpy and stiff, the pillows were flat and the linens seemed like they came out of the Goodwill store twenty years ago.
The bath towels were threadbare and small. The shower in the hallway bathroom drained so slowly, folks were limiting their showers or using the one in the master bathroom. The hand held unit in the master bathroom wouldn't stay on, and the overhead showerhead either ran cold or scalding hot.
None of the bedroom windows had window shades.
The sofa was broken and slopped to the middle.
The porch could only accommodate two people at a time.
Which brings us to the final problem. Twice the smoke detectors went off for about 30 seconds. The first night was at about 1:30 AM and then the last night was at 3:30 AM. After the first time, C, the property manager, came through to check the batteries and vacuum out any cobwebs from the smoke detectors. We described all of the above problems to C (the property manager). He said even though the prior three or four vacationers had the same complaints the owner wasn’t spending any more money on the house.
The final cost, after VRBO's fees and taxes was over $1k/day. Holiday Inn Express in Albany was nicer in each regard and wasn't even $200/day. I get that the location was special, but truly, making the vacationers strip the beds before they leave is about as low class as you can get. Then it took 11 days to get the security deposit back.
