We made 2 bookings at the Art Inn, from Oct. 12 to 13 for 2
persons and parking, and from Oct. 13 to 14 for 1 person, no parking.
We arrived at the Art Inn on Oct. 12 around 5pm, at that time the
outside temperature was 54 degrees. Entering the room it turned out
that it was not heated. (Heat and Air-Conditioning was supposedly
provided by an old-fashioned wall unit.) We tried for a while to turn
on the heat, following the posted instructions, but failed.
Eventually we contacted the management who told us to do what we had
already done repeatedly. We tried for another hour to get the heat
working but failed. During the exchanges we also found out a weird
feature of their heating system: "Our AC system is interconnected so
all machines in the building need to be on the same setting" and
"Someone in another room changed the setting"... How can that be ?
Eventually, around 6:30 pm, we decided to leave. Only then a different
room was offered but there was no indication if the heat in this room
was working and/or if it had the same weird feature. So we left around
6:40 pm after another failed attempt to get the heat to work.
The management offered refund for the first but not the second night.
We feel that it is the responsibility of the hotel to make sure
that a room is in order BEFORE a guest arrives. The ART INN has
definitely failed in this aspect.
Demanding a refund for the second day is the least we can ask for as a
compensation for the waste of time, freezing, an
