Where to start?
Before arriving while on a 20 hour drive get a text that the washing machine is broken. We packed with the intentions of doing laundry frequently. This was Saturday. Told repair person will show Tuesday the day we need to do laundry. Arrived to find the 3 out of 5 bed linens very dirty with sand and even food crumbs. We were tired so kiddos had to share the other bed. Also the pool was dirty, and that level of leaves and dead frogs was not just recent…some frogs were decaying. Called the office Monday morning and told we can just go to the laundromat for laundry (just how I want to spend my vacation NOT) and that we can just go to the beach instead of using the pool. Thankfully on Monday we got new linen and I had to make the beds up. Monday we discover the shower drain backs up…gross and unsanitary. So we had to wait for the guy to come and fix. That took a couple more hours out of our vacation. We had to be on site because we have a dog but she seemed a bit tense so we didn't want her stressed out so we stuck around every time someone would need to come. The pool guy came and cleaned the pool before his due time of Thursday. The repair man showed up on Tuesday only to say the washer needs replacing. So we had yet another day to wait for them to arrive which was Thursday. By then we were out of clean laundry. 6 days into our trip we finally were not interrupted with repair folks. But our dog stayed on high alert the entire time we were there so we certainly never felt like we had privacy. And Wednesday the following week we get a call from the rental company that we had the brown patio furniture in the pool and it needs removed. SUPER CREEPY. Just look at the pool, we had no idea it wasn't allowed, the binder said nothing. We were not at the house at that time and when we arrived, the chairs were already moved. Clearly our dog was very correct to be on high alert! Lastly, the Nest Thermostat. Nothing better than walking into a place every time we were gone and it's 78-80 degrees. Even better we had to get up every single night to turn the temp down as it would go back to 78-80. The owners have it set and you can adjust the temp but not for long before it goes back to the settings. A 2 week vacation and essentially frustrating the entire time. The rental company did minimal damage control but bottom line, things should have been handled very differently starting with the washer being broken. That alone is a deal breaker for us. We won't be renting though this company again.
