Carved into the cliff side, Canava villas can host up to 16 individuals in a naturally cool setting where the marvel of mountain rocks and stones prevails. A combination of stone and wood. With 4.5metres high ceilings, polished-concrete floors and walls, a vivid multicolour décor, rooftop accommodation, 5mt jet plunge pool and with a hidden jacuzzi gem and a 7m pool ,custom designed furnishings, outdoor sitting that oversees the pool area and state-of-the-art technology, the property is vast, unique, and undeniably chic. With direct access to the yard and terrace, the villas feature sea views to the sea of Perivolos and to the old picturesque medieval village of Emporio.

The whole renovation effort was based on the notion of “inserting” a new use (vacation housing) in the old structure while maintaining the spatial qualities of the original architecture. It was a challenging construction project, implemented by its current owner and architect Babis Chiotis with the scope to provide luxury amenities and touches for our guests with the least possible interference to this ancient and traditional structure.
The villas’ revolutionary architecture and interior design embraces space and exudes style, with floors of smooth poured concrete, mosaic from Santorini’s beach black stones and walls crafted from the rocks of the mountain which is laying on the back of the villas. Fierce rocks emerge from the wall, while impressive ceiling vaults revealing the true nature of Santorini in its magnitude. Domes, arches, thick walls, small windows compose the distinguished vernacular complex geometry and form of the building. The morphology and the overall vernacular architecture of the building creates a challenging place to work on and compose an overall experience for vacation living with a unique combination of local and contemporary characteristics.

A traditional industrial Canava of 200sq.m has been completely renewed and transformed into three comfortable villas, combined with modern touches and amenities. The Canava was originally designed and operated in the past for the production of wine and tsipouro. Santorini is world renowned for its singular wine production, thanks to the distinctive weather conditions and the soil quality, the minimum humidity and rainfall throughout the year and the meticulous wine ageing in these special caves. The basic spatial organization of the building was based on the production and storage of wine. Specifically, the basic organizational type was made up of spaces for stepping on the grapes that are attached next to an extra-long space where the wine was stored in barrels.

The Canava Villa #1 comes with a master bedroom, providing a king size bed, which is positioned on the upper floor for optimal privacy. Artfully concealed is the ensuite bathroom, with a complete luxury shower-room providing steaming functions (hammam) and hydromassage. Also, you have your own small dressing room “on the rocks”. A bathtub overlooking the full space can help you letting the steam off and enjoying a relaxing time of your vacay; you can fill it in with water of your preferred temperature! While you are sharing the place with family, kids, or friends, there is a second bedroom for ultimate privacy in the shape of a dome, on the ground floor, having two single mattresses which can be also turned into a queen one and having its own bathroom too. Kitchen fully equipped, living room with long sofas, flat smart TV, Bluetooth audio system, two closets and workspace overlooking the yard. You have also private access to the yard, with outdoor sitting, to the pool 1 and terrace. Including the sofa (single bed) in the living area, Canava Villa #1 can easily accommodate up to 5 people in its COCO-MAT mattresses and pillows.

The Canava Villa #2 comes with a master bedroom which is positioned at the very end of the ground floor which can be isolated from the main space through a sliding Japanese-inspired large window. There is also a closet and the bed is in king size. The bedroom is also ensuite with its own shower and toilet. The shower cabin can also offer hydromassage facilities. Worth to mention that while you are laying in the bed you are enjoying a view to a rocky enlightened “garden” by your side.
Upper floor can accommodate up to 4 people, providing four single floor mattresses and having their own ensuite bathroom as well.
On the ground floor, apart from the fully equipped kitchen, you can enjoy the living room area with a fireplace, big comfortable sofas, flat smart TV, Bluetooth audio system, workspace and there is also a WC for your own guests! You have private access to the yard, with outdoor sitting and to the pool 1&2 and terrace.
Including the sofa (single bed) in the living room area, Canava Villa #2 can accommodate up to 7 people in its COCO-MAT mattresses and pillows.

The Canava Villa #3 is the smallest but the cosiest one! Provides a small but fully equipped kitchen, living room with a big sofa which can be turned into a double bed, workspace with flat smart TV and Bluetooth audio system, and a bedroom with a queen size bed, closet and ensuite bathroom. Bedroom can be isolated from the other space with a sliding door. You have also private access to the side-yard, with outdoor sitting, and to the pool 1&2 and terrace. Including the sofa (double bed), Canava Villa #3 can easily accommodate up to 4 people.
