I had the most wonderful stay at Melrose River Club while visiting Texas State University. From the moment I arrived, the staff in the lobby were incredibly kind and welcoming. The entire property was spotless — from my little house to the pool and all of the shared spaces. Everything felt clean, peaceful, and thoughtfully cared for.
What I loved most was the feeling of having my own private space. My cottage was the perfect size for a weekend stay — cozy, beautifully designed, and filled with charming decor that had such a nostalgic touch. It truly felt like my own little retreat.
The pool area was beautiful, and I especially enjoyed the fire pit seating areas. One of my favorite moments was sitting on my private patio with a glass of wine, reading, and soaking in the quiet outdoor atmosphere surrounded by nature. It was peaceful in the best way. Even though it was a quieter season, I actually appreciated that calm and sense of independence.
I genuinely rate this place beyond five stars. I will absolutely be returning and I can’t wait to come back in the summertime when it’s warmer so I can enjoy the pool even more and go tubing on the river. If you’re looking for a clean, charming, peaceful stay with the perfect mix of privacy and amenities, I highly recommend it.
