Gosen House in the hills above San Jose

The property was beautiful, clean, comfortable, and well run. The host family were very kind, inviting us to breakfast and sharing recommendations for restaurants in the area.Wish we had taken more time to lounge in the lovely backyard garden area. We enjoyed our stay, and recommend this property.

Eduardo and Betty were FABULOUS! They could not have been nicer, more courteous hosts! The house was perfection and the home cooked meals were INCREDIBLE!The property itself is BREATHTAKING and very secure. It is behind a heavy electric gate, so we felt very safe!Eduardo communicates very efficiently and was so helpful in navigating our excursions… I hope some day to be able to have the privilege of staying at Gósen again and would give it 10 stars!!

We had an excellent time at Posada Gosen, finding it to be the perfect location for our family retreat.The accommodations were superb; the kitchen was well-equipped, the beds were very comfortable, and the grounds were beautiful, providing a peaceful and relaxing environment for our break.As noted in other reviews, the highlight of our visit was the exceptional service provided by Eduardo. He was incredibly welcoming and helpful, immediately addressing all of our needs. He provided a wonderful tour of the coffee farm, which included a hands-on coffee roasting experience, and kindly arranged for a yoga instructor to visit one morning. These personalized touches greatly enhanced our vacation. .Additionally, we enjoyed the local area, specifically the nearby parks with hiking trails, waterfall, and the viewpoint overlooking San Jose.

Eduardo was amazing and the property exceptional. The gardens were beautiful. Eduardo was the best, explaining everything, having his wife cook us an amazing meal. Private, peaceful, beautiful. We traveled everywhere from this beautiful home and coming back always felt like home. Our host was amazing he know Costa Rica and you will need this cause there are no addresses for the GPS. You have to know the location. We had an amazing time and will be back only stay here when we come.

The property was large and well manicured. There is a small coffee farm on site. We asked to participate in the harvesting and had a fun and learning experience. The home was spread out, but had all the amenities we needed for our 4 week stay. Highly recommend this location.

Lovely mountain getaway

Lovely mountain getaway with generous and caring hosts. Comfy bedroom w gorgeous view, access to gorgeous and working coffee farm - great coffee!! Car needed for easy mobility. Great access to national parks and numerous towns and San Jose. Second bedroom is separate from main accommodations, which we didn’t need so it was fine. Beautiful property!

My husband, daughter and I wanted to stay in a house near San Jose, and this worked out really nicely. The property is just gorgeous with the flowers and greenery everywhere. Eduardo and Betty are so sweet. We paid extra for dinner and breakfast the first day which was a huge help until we could get to the grocery store.I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone elderly or with little kids—no railing on the stairs or paved paths. You need a car to stay here, for sure. And the bed in the main room was so hard we bought an air mattress to put on top of it. But otherwise, it was a wonderful stay!

Lovely place, lovelier hosts

We arrived in the middle of the night due to flight issues. We were graciously welcomed. The property is beautiful with comfortable and fun guest areas. The hosts were beyond welcoming, helped us practice our Spanish, taught us how coffee beans go from tree to roasting AND let us help! Sweet dogs and cuddly rabbits rounded out our visit. Get the food if you can, they go all out preparing meals too. Highly recommend this location. We would stay here again!

Beautful space and amazing hosts

The property itself is beautiful, peaceful, and well maintained. We were very comfortable and the view from the main building is splendid.The hosts are amazing, warm and welcoming. We leraned about their small-scale coffee production and even got to help out, which was a lot of fun. It almost felt like a homestay experience the way they took the time to interact with us. My husband and two adult children also loved the experience and said it was one of the highlights from the entire trip.

Beautiful home close to San Jose

Great accommodations if you want to be close to San Jose but not in the city. Wonderful hosts who were extremely helpful even though they were out of town during our visit. You are in the middle of beautiful gardens and small coffee farm. Feel safe and secure with locked gate to property. We stayed just a couple of nights before heading elsewhere, and it was a great stopover for us. Reasonably priced and a friend of the owners even made dinner for us the first night because we arrived so late. Lovely people!

We had the most amazing stay at the Gosen House! Eduardo and Betty are the best hosts ever. It felt like we were staying with family. Just the nicest people and we loved talking with them and learning all about the farm and Costa Rica.The place is so beautiful - flowers and fruit in abundance. We also saw lovely birds all over the property. And they had the most precious dogs which added even more fun to the visit! We ordered the dinner and breakfast and everything was absolutely delicious. Homemade and fresh fruit and juice from their garden. We took the coffee tour and it was so informative and fun. We enjoyed the experience of roasting some coffee beans at the end of the tour. It was so awesome to be able to buy some coffee to take home and know exactly where it came from and that it is made with love.Our stay was too short - we did not want to leave! Eduardo and Betty are the best! I was treated like family there. I took a tour with Eduardo and he is the ultimate guide, we even had lunch at his favorite soda. He took me to the airport at 4.30 am to pick up my wife because I didn’t want to drive in the dark. Not only did I make a new acquaintance, I made new friends.

Five Stars are Not Enough

The reviews are true… beautiful property and AMAZING hosts. Eduardo and Betty make you feel like instant family. They are incredibly sweet and hospitable. There are no words to describe Betty’s cooking; we didn’t want to leave the kitchen. The arepas, Spanish tortilla, and paella were definitely favorites. The fresh, grown on location, coffee was the best (5 bags came home with us!). We appreciated Eduardo’s local knowledge as we hiked and looked for sloths and other wildlife. Grounds were beautiful and accommodations were comfortable. Definitely recommend!

Peaceful Stay in Paradise

The property is incredibly beautiful; full of lush flowers, fruit trees, exotic birds, and a trail that leads to a large, clear, mountain stream. The temperature is cool and mild and theres a great view of the surrounding vegitation from the second story. Eduardo and his wife are beyond hospitable and welcoming, and made every effort to find ways to make our stay memorable and comfortable. I would highly recommend you purchase their delicious, aromatic coffee. Ots grown on the property otself, and Eduardo grinds it freshly for you at your request. Nothing but love for this place and the hosts! Pura vida!
