This stay was very unpleasant. According to the hotelโs check-in policy, we arrived at the hotel a little after 4:00 p.m., but the front desk staff told us that our room had not been cleaned yet and said it would be ready in half an hour. We waited for half an hour and went back to check in again, only to be told that the room was still not ready and that it would take another hour.
Seeing this situation, we went out for dinner and shopping. When we returned to the front desk around 8:00 p.m., the staff told us that the room we booked was no longer available. I had booked a twin-bed river view room more than three weeks in advance, but they said it was no longer available and asked us to choose either a king-size river view room or another option. This made us feel very unhappy, especially since it was Christmas Eve, which seriously affected our mood.
The front desk explained that because we booked through Expedia, they were unable to meet our original room request. Since it was already very late at night, we had no choice but to accept a nonโriver view twin-bed room. Even then, we had to wait another 45 minutes for the room to be cleaned before we could check in. The toothbrushes and slippers we requested were also not provided.
Overall, the check-in experience was very poor, and it made our Christmas unpleasant.
