Despite having a specific room booked 10+ days in advance, the hotel staff called me a few hours before check in to inform me that the room had been overbooked. They asked to call me back so they could see what they could do. They didn't call back. After an hour, I called them and was asked to wait for their call which would be in a few minutes. They didn't call back. I had traveled from out of state and began to panic a bit of not having an accommodation large enough for the family. I called them back and talked to the manager. She was very kind and we worked on a few different solutions including two neighboring rooms and possibly two adjoining rooms. She was worried because the hotel was almost at capacity. No my problem as I had a reservation... After some time, she was able to "move others around" so I could have two ajoining rooms. As compensation for the switch in rooms and the inconvenience of it all, they gave me water bottles, 3 Twix candy bars, two small bags of chips, and a few individual packages of cookies.
When I checked in, I did ask for some compensation for the whole inconvenience. The manager was very kind, but she declined saying I was getting TWO rooms for the price of one. They had already comped out the second room. Well I wouldn't have needed a second room if I had received the two bedroom suite I had reserved nearly two weeks earlier. I was extremely tired and ready to just get the vacation started, I dropped it.
