Less than 200 metres from your doorstep is a long sandy beach with a pier full of family-friendly amusements and eateries at one end and, at the other, the entrance to the working harbour. Visit the harbour to see leisure yachts and fishing boats come and go; you can buy the latter’s freshly landed catch and take a ride on the historic foot ferry to the village of Walberswick, on the opposite side of the River Blyth. Southwold Common offers an alternative route back to town – it’s just far enough to work up a thirst for a taste of the local brewery’s finest!
