I stayed at Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort from April 11–16, and overall, the experience was mixed.
The resort itself is very large and beautifully decorated, but it could really benefit from clearer maps and better signage—getting around wasn’t always easy. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Many staff members, especially at check-in and the front desk, were not very friendly or helpful, and it felt like additional training is needed in those areas.
There were also some issues with the room. I encountered two roaches—one in the room and one in the closet. While I understand that insects can be common in the Caribbean, I didn’t expect to find them inside the room. When I reported it, the response was disappointing, as I was simply told housekeeping could come again, with no real resolution offered.
That said, a few standout employees completely turned things around for me. Domingo and Claribel at the adults-only pool bar were exceptional—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Felix at the late-night restaurant, The Valley, was also fantastic. Without these three individuals, my experience would have been significantly worse.
In short, while the resort looks great, service and guest support need improvement and the rules around the adults only pool need to be revisted. Out of the days I was there there was only entertainment at the pool one day. The staff members mentioned above were the highlight of the stay and made a big difference.
