Province de Kaoh Kong

Cambodge

Koh Kong is a rough around the edges, border town whose bus station will leave you wondering if this is really somewhere you want to get off. Do it though. After you check in make a beeline to find Mr. T at Koh Kong Eco Tours. This guy will get you everything you need including moto rentals and guides to hidden places such as this waterfall deep in the Cardamom Forest.

To get here, you'll need to put your big boy/girls pants on. Its steamy and much of the trail involves bushwacking. You'll also be battling leeches and other critters, but the guides are more than competent and the chance to have your own private waterfall for the day is well worth the effort.

Tip: Mr. T will have lunch brought out for you so skip the heavy bags and enjoy the hike.

When we arrived at this spectacular waterfall, we were surprised to see that most of the swimmers were young local monks, taking some time off from their studies. It's an incredible place to swim and an even better place to meet locals on their own turf.
While the chances of seeing an elephant in the wild in Cambodia are very slim, it's still worthwhile to visit the Cardamom mountain region, where you can get out into Cambodia's wilds.
It might be a little hard to get to, but an adventure in the Cardamom Mountains in the south-east corner of Cambodia should not be missed. If you want to spend time off-the-beaten track, trekking, boating, or biking through the jungle, this is the place to go.
