Pottenstein is one of the most beautiful and well-known towns in Franconian Switzerland, famous for its impressive rock formations, historic sights and a wide range of leisure activities.



A special highlight is Pottenstein Castle, perched on a rock above the town. Dating back to the 11th century, it offers wonderful views of the surroundings. Visitors can tour the castle and learn about its fascinating history.



Pottenstein also features a charming landscape with numerous hiking and cycling trails, such as the Püttlachtal, Klumpertal, and the Pottenstein Höhenweg with the Himmelsleiter observation tower. The town and its surroundings are known for culinary specialities and lively traditions. Several breweries still produce original Pottenstein beer, country inns serve regional delicacies, and you can experience Franconian culture at many local festivals.



A particularly impressive event is the annual celebration on the evening of 6 January, when numerous mountain fires are lit on the hills around Pottenstein to mark the end of the Eternal Adoration.
