'3 nights in late July. Hotel is a great place to stay to experience the Lake District, not far from Ambleside but remote enough to feel like you are really in nature. Staff and breakfast were excellent. Walk up to Stickle Tarn was a good test with a couple of scrambly bits but well worth it once you got there.'

'Great Hotel - we'd originally booked 10 years ago but had to cancel due to a complicated pregnancy. It was lovely to have finally made it! 'Nice people on the reception offering walking guides just to use as soon as we told we were planning to do some walking in the Lake District. The rooms were spaceous and very clean. In the morning on request freshly baken croissants or oatmeal During the evenings we used the DVD service for free. You can pick one and play a movie in the room.'

'One of the few hotels in central Ambleside with lots of facilities which was a bonus. Although the sauna and steam room were a little chilly! Areas of the hotel were being upgraded with others still to do - bathrooms and main dining area.'
