'Large, comfortable room with a modern en-suite. Very amenable and accommodating hosts with nice ideas such as putting on complimentary food in the bar during England World Cup games. We had a “simple” pie & chips from the menu and it was terrific with, as promised, real gravy. We didn’t have full English breakfast but the toast on the Continental option from a local artisan baker was fab. Lots of little touches that make the Royal Oak a little different from the ordinary.'

No walk in showers which make it difficult for people not able to use bath. 'We’re visiting from Canada. We enjoyed staying at the Inn. The room was a little warm at night because of the warm weather. It was really easy to take a bus to the Chester Bus Station and walk a few minutes to the Chester train station to go to Liverpool for the day. The staff and everyone we met were so friendly.'

'The hotel staff are good especially reception and the gym but the spa which I was looking forward to it Wasn’t great You have to pay extra so my husband couldn’t use the facilities even though I had 3 treatments Which were not great the therapists are only just out of training yet they charge full price I must admit I was lucky with my facial which was excellent But the whole spa experience is not worth the money'
