Casa do Simão, Açores - Now with hot tub!

The house 'Casa do Simão' is a hospitable century-old house for rent where you can spend unforgettable moments on the island of São Miguel in the Azores. The ideal place for nature lovers lose themselves in unique moments.

The house is located in the municipality of "Nordeste", in the parish of "Lomba da Pedreira".

The construction of the house dates from the year 1915, benefiting from a privileged place, suspended in a high, surrounded by mountains and vast green areas, has one of the most emblematic views to watch the sunrise.

The House comes as our project, Nelia and Peter, in a place where we have roots, childhood memories and that is our refuge.

The house was-degraded in ruins and was recovered by us during 2015. We seek to maintain the identity of the house, privileging the magnificent view and location in a quiet location conducive to a vacation where the contact with the natural elements is a constant.

Good night, the house is near the village of Nordeste, in four minutes range by car, or 20 minutes walking.

There you have two restaurants and five bars were you can eat and drink, the cafe's and bars are open until 00H00 and more.

In the Vila do Nordeste, you have three supermarkets, that are open all week from 09H00 to 18H00, at the weekend only stay open from 09H00 to 12H00 on Satruday, and at Monday only one open's from 09h00 to 12H00, you have to a fishmonger and a meet house.

When we make the chek-in, i will give all the indications of the best places to go, to eat, to go to the sea and many other sugestion.

I have in house a lot of maps, flyrs, books with photos, about the places to go in Nordeste.

In christmas season we have on the island and in the northeast village, many activitis in the cities and vilas the streets are illuminated with lights and are displayed several nativity scenes related to the birth of jesus, some in size as the village of furnas placed between hot springs, other mechanized and other in clay figures made by hand and painted.

In the city of Ribeira Grande there are many prespios in the churches and museums open to the public in the city of the logo. Also, crib competitions are held by the municipal chamber.
And in Ponta Delgada the historical center is all illuminated with lights and there is a market of Christmas trees and decorations of the time.

There are several restaurants on the island that cook typical traditional food of the time like bacalhoa with chickpeas and turkey or chicken with baked potatoes in the oven.

For Christmas supper, it is customary for families to gather and eat the traditional meal referred to above, to order in the restaurants in the village of the Northeast, and to pick up the food in the oven and take it home, or to go to restaurants in the area of the city of Pont Delgada and have dinner in them.

As for the activities that can be carried out on the island related to nature, there are many good ones, such as going for a hot bath in the hot springs and hot springs that are natural spas in the village of Furnas, only 20 minutes by the motorway to get from the house, see the dolphins and whales in the various whale watch vessels.

I could continue for a long time to describe activities that can be done but even for me that I live in this island 40 years I still have to see much wants on land or at sea from isolated beaches waterfalls with wells in the mountains and places so isolated that we have to walk by rails to get there.
