Private access to a boat landing on the Bayou about 200 yards from the house, available upon request. Bring your boat or kayak. Enjoy the scenery & wildlife from the water. About a 5 minute ride on Bayou Petite Anse brings you by Avery Island, Jungle Gardens where they make Tabasco Sauce. It is also an entry way to Vermilion Bay and to the Gulf of Mexico.

This has been one of my favorite rentals. We were traveling to New Iberia this winter, as my partner lovvvves Tabasco sauce. Saw the listing and decided, let’s go stay on a farm. From the moment I opened the door, I knew I made a good choice. I felt peace, I felt serenity. There was a plate of home made pecan cookies on the dining room table with , a jar of ice tea in the fridge. Jill, the host brought me flowers, fresh eggs, and numerous goodies throughout our one month stay. The hosts were amazing, and they like Handsome Johnny, our Labrador. We loved being on a farm, having coffee on the back deck , watching all the animals, the chicken’s were a hoot. New Iberia was only a few miles down the road, Lafayette 1/2 hour drive . Lovely cities to explore. And the bayou’sSurreal. We hope to come back in the future. This country house will be cherished in my memories.

Our hosts were more than welcoming. Homemade cookies made from an old family recipe awaited us; and they were still warm from the oven. Delicious. Information about the area and events that would be taking place during our stay was available. When asked, our hosts made suggestions and gave directions. Our hosts VRBO home was is just that. A home away from home set in a rural environment where peace and comfort abound. La Maison is definitely place to reconnect with your faith, rediscover the wonder of God's creations and prepare for what life is giving us next. Thank you.

Arrived to homemade pecan fudge, which was fabulous. The home was spotless, set in a quiet beautiful neighborhood. There is a lift for luggage or if a person is handicapped, so if you have limited mobility or a wheelchair, this home is perfect for you as well. We enjoyed sitting on front porch to watch neighborhood or sitting on the back porch watching the chickens and horses. There was always a refreshing breeze. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and pots. Just bring what you wish to eat. There is a charcoal grill on back deck. The host are lovely people. As for sights to see, try Jefferson island, not Avery. The cafe on Jefferson is much better as well as the gardens.

Beautiful property with country like surroundings with horses, chickens, calves, dogs and cats, maybe more but that is all I saw. Darren and Jill were amazing and went above and beyond. The breaker had tripped on the hot water heater before we got there and when I messaged them that the water wasn't hot they immediately came over to fix it. They also checked in with us to make sure it was still working. They left us some special gifts for our anniversary we well. Highly recommend their home.

100% best place ever

The property? Beautiful! Communication with the owner? Super easy with fast responses (Jill, put the phone down and take a breath, woman! :) Easy to find, it looks exactly like the pictures, the beds are comfy, the couch is comfy, I honestly would be happy to have stayed there for the rest of my life and not even leave again. There’s plenty to do in the area, but you can happily leave the busy area and just…chill on the porch and watch the wildlife…and the not so wildlife. I was cooking in the (very well stocked) kitchen and got to watch a horse yelling “I RUN!!!” as Darren trained (? I guess, I know nothing about horses and the circle paddock thingy) him (her?) I got to sit on the deck early in the morning and listen to dueling roosters (but I could go inside and shut the door and no longer hear them lol). I got to play with tiny frogs and tiny green lizards that had attached themselves to the wall on the deck. I had plenty of visits from Maybelle and Jingles on the deck and gave them plenty of pets and scritches. I did not give Maybelle or Jingles any of the delicious brownies that Jill graciously baked for us. There are not enough stars to give this place, so I grant them ALL THE STARS and Neptune and Pluto!

Anniversary Trip

Jill and Darren were great hosts. There were fresh flowers, chocolate chip cookies and sweet tea waiting for us upon our arrival. Inside was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend if making a trip to Southern Louisiana.

Friend getaway

We were greeted with a fresh batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies and 2 vases of freshly picked flowers from the property. The property was very cleaned, well stocked and decorated cute. It is located very close to EVERYTHING and we definitely stay here again if ever we come back. We had a small issue with the wi-fi. The owner lives on the property and the issue was immediately taken care of. GREAT stay!! ❤️

Loved this place!

My family and I stayed here for a wedding at Rip Van Winkle. It was very clean and has lots of outdoor seating. Jill came out and showed my daughter her animals and even let her give them snacks. Great place and great hosts!
