  • From the central location and proximity to the beach, to the chef's kitchen and the backyard oasis, Kirtland's Keep will take your vacation experience to the next level. Built in 2005 and meticulously maintained, this luxurious home looks and feels like a new construction.

    One of the most beautiful homes in Old Nags Head Place! From the lustrous wood flooring on the top level featuring a gas fireplace flanked by handsome cabinetry for storage to the juniper accents on the cathedral ceiling to add warmth. Jaw dropping kitchen features top-of-the-line appliances including gas range, wall oven, wine cooler, and granite island featuring a bar sink and raised dining space. The ample dining table with attractive chandelier will accommodate the entire household. The large expansive, manicured yard is the perfect place for those evening yard games you brought with you, not to forget, the private putting green in the back yard! Pets are welcome! The Curlew Street beach access is a short 950 feet from the home via a dedicated & manicured path.

    Kirtland's Keep is situated in the picturesque community of Old Nags Head Place, a quiet oceanside neighborhood featuring homes with classic Nags Head style architecture. Centrally located at milepost 11.5, you'll never have to venture far for shopping, dining and attractions. Walk or bike to locals' favorites such as Tortuga's Lie, Waveriders Coffee & Deli and Surfin' Spoon Frozen Yogurt. Need a break from the beach? You can still enjoy the great outdoors during a day at Jockey's Ridge, Dowdy Park or Nags Head Woods - all within a mile radius of Kirtland's Keep. The Nags Head fishing pier is also nearby, where you can spend the day casting lines and reeling in whatever's biting. Grab drinks and snacks at Captain Andy's tiki bar or sit down for a meal at the Pier House Restaurant, where they'll cook and serve up your catch of the day.

Graduation Vacation

Family of four had a great time. Adult kids (18-22) loved the place. The ice machine was so helpful. Very nice beach supplies in garage which was important for us as we flew in from east coast and couldnt bring our own. If we ever go back i want to stay here again.

Kirkland's Keep

Amazing stay at Kirkland's Keep. A beautiful house in a great location. It had everything we needed. The basement level was especially helpful with kids- it gave them a place to hand out in the evenings, etc. Easy walk to beach and near all the Nag's Head action. Definitely recommend!

Perfect place for a cousins’ reunion.

We are a group of cousins from TX, FL, and NC who got together for a short vacation. Kirtland’s Keep was the perfect place. The house was immaculate, loaded with games and puzzles, and it had a lot of room for us to spread out. It was just a short walk to the ocean via a nice walkway. The only disappointment was that the private putting green was not in good condition, but we hardly had time for it anyway. If we are able to go to OBX again, we will definitely choose Kirtland’s Keep.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was close to the beach and reasonably priced. The house was beautiful inside and out. There were minor things about our stay that were annoying such as: all of the remote batteries were dead, there weren't enough towels, there weren't any beach towels, there were very minimal toiletries provided (1 roll of TP for the whole week per bathroom), the house wasn't super clean (old dog poop left on the top deck and dirt in corners of showers, etc), and some things were broken prior to our arrival (the umbrella for the table on the deck).

Thank you for the opportunity to stay here.Few notes to do with as you like: 1) when it rains heavily, water comes down the vent over the kitchen stove and drips into/onto the stove. I have a video if you’d like to see. Guessing needs sealed at the roof somewhere. 2) the plumbing does not drain well (think this is common in OBX).neither of these bothered our stay - just wanted to point them out for you.

It has all amenities as listed including a ping pong table in the garage! The most noticeable quality is the cleanliness of the house and the well equipped kitchen. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub, pool area and the putting green. The game collection is expansive and came in handy for our game nights. The location of the house is perfectly located on a quiet street with beach access close by. The back yard is also very private and beautiful. The rental company was very responsive with our needs and friendly upon arrival. We can't wait to come back!

The walk to the beach was very easy. The house was clean and well maintained. The elevator was a little touchy on the top floor (door didn't always lock, so it would get stuck on 3rd floor until door was locked). We loved our stay there and will definitely be back next year!

Beach Realty is a pleasure to deal with. We don’t normally review homes but this one has a few amenities that we thought were worth mentioning. First off, there are filtered water spouts at the sinks which helped out with making coffee and we spent less on bottled water. Also, there was a nice ice maker in the kitchen as well as the ice maker in the freezer. There was a gas stove which was nice for cooking. The coffee maker did have a reusable filter, usually we need to buy disposable filters in rental homes. We liked the books and games in the living room. The putting green did have putters and balls to use. There was a ping pong table in the garage. There were a couple of yard games, ie corn hole, and the side yard was perfect for that. The beds were comfortable. The shower water pressure was very good which is not always the case. We did not hear the noise from the highway while we were in the house or the yard. We once stayed right across the street and the highway noise was very noticeable so this was a nice surprise. Lastly, the short walk to the beach is along a really pretty walkway. Highly recommend Kirtland’s Keep!

Our only "complaint" was that there was no remote for the Roku in the master bedroom. We would not hesitate to stay here again, and hope to do just that next year!

Wonderful Vacation!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: You have such a beautiful home, just perfect for our 3 adult children and their families. The gorgeous chef’s kitchen provided so many meals, all of the pans, utensils, etc provided. There was not one thing in the kitchen we needed to cook our meals. The large refrigerator and freezer, wine refrigerator and gas stove was so wonderful! Beds were comfortable and bedrooms large enough. The one thing I wish would have been provided were a few more towels. Having young children bathing would have been easier if each guest were provided 2 towels and washcloths, just a suggestion. The close proximity to the beach and the beautiful walking path and fabulous! Thank you for a wonderful week!
