Whether you come to relax, browse through quaint shops, or explore the natural beauty of Mentone, Chestnut Oaks is the perfect getaway for you.
Our cottage, nestled on the west brow of Lookout Mountain between the historic town of Mentone and Desoto State Park, has a wrap-a-round porch with rockers to enjoy the breathtaking view.
Even though our cottage is equipped with satellite TV which means you won't miss your favorite ball game in the fall, most of you will leave it off to enjoy your restful surroundings. The large porch is the perfect place to enjoy the cool shade of the trees in the summer and colorful fall. The winter months reveal the beauty of the valley below and the ridges in the distance.
Family, friends, or just the two of you can enjoy the rustic pine paneled 'gathering room' where you can read books, play cards or board games, watch TV, or cook up something is the fully equipped kitchen. On a chilly day enjoy a fire in the gas log stove on the stone hearth. There is a small stone patio with a charcoal grill for your cookouts.
The two bedrooms each have a queen sized bed with linens and warm comforts. Each room has storage space in chest of drawers and good closet space. The sofa opens to sleep two if needed. The two bathrooms are equipped with towels, tissue, and hand soap.
The cottage is located 4.6 miles from downtown Mentone and 2 miles from Desoto State Park. Some of the many activities available for you include incredible water falls, hiking, horseback riding at the Dude Ranch and golf at Lil Mole Run. Go to Desoto State park or the Canyon Center for more information on events provided.
If you don't want to cook at the cottage, try some of the wonderful restaurants in Mentone, The Wildflower Cafe, Elevation, Mentone Market and our two new food trucks one at the Mentone Inn and one at Moon Lake Trading Company.
And don't miss the Saturday Farmers Market next to the Mentone Inn, open year round.

Not a bad thing to say about this cabin. House was clean. Had everything we needed. Loved the porch. Check in was a breeze and we were even allowed to check in early since we got in town a couple of hours early. We spent time at DeSoto Falls and hiked some trails around the State Park. Mentone is such a great little town. Would stay here again.

This was our second stay at this cabin…as before, it is very clean, has a beautiful view, is conveniently located, and very comfy…the beds are comfortable & the kitchen has what you need…we are 2 women 60 so we love that it’s one floor and close to everything we wanted to visit…I do have 2 suggestions to improve the property…one is to provide a keurig coffee machine…I’m sure other guests would love it as well…the other is to update the television to provide something other than Dish reception…the first night, there were terrible storms & our area was under a tornado warning…we could not get a local channel at all so we were clueless as to what the weather was doing in our area…we eventually lost television reception & spent some time in the hall bathroom because we were unsure exactly what was headed our way…these suggestions are not a criticism—just ways that improvements could be made on a nearly perfect property…thank you for letting us share this beautiful spot…hopefully we’ll return in the future.

This cabin is awesome! It is immaculate and well laid out with two bedrooms and two baths. There is a great porch overlooking the valley. Though our intention was to visit Mentone and De Soto State Park, we did neither, instead staying at the cabin and enjoying the solitude and scenery. We will definitely stay here again when we're in the area.

My husband and I have stayed at this property numerous times. As I grew up in area, it’s such a familiar place for me. The cabin perfectly clean and plenty of items for our stay. The location of this property is perfect! You cant get a better view anywhere! The home was welcoming, cozy and fully stocked for all our needs. We would have enjoyed relaxing on the porch much more if the weather had not turned so cold, but inside was the perfect temp. There are lots to see and do outdoors nearby. The host was very responsive when I reached out with questions. We look forward to returning any time of year.

From the moment we drove into the driveway, we were amazed at the cottage and the view. It was our first vacation in over 3 years. The cottage was beautiful, clean, and exceeded our expectation! The view over the valley was unbelievable! We will definitely be coming back! The only disappointment was having to leave and go back home....... "Our Host was great !!!

We picked this place for a short trip and ultimately had a great time. We got to see the fall foilage. It was also cozy with the gas heater and chilly night temps. We even went trick or treating at nearby Desoto State Park. Hope to come again!

I looked at all the excellent reviews people left before I booked this house and thought we’ll try it and see. It can’t be as good as all that. BUT IT WAS! The location is perfect. It was so clean. Everything you need was in the kitchen. The view was amazing! We will definitely stay again and have no problem recommending this cabin to our friends!

I had stayed at this cute little house a couple of years ago with 3 friends. Wanted to show my husband the area, so one of my friends and I brought him along this time. The house is in a great location, it has beautiful views and most importantly, it is easy to access for people with limited mobility. (My friend and husband both deal with spinal stenosis) Loved our stay and highly recommend!

The cabin was a great place to enjoy some quiet time away from everything. It was very peaceful. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch and enjoying the view. Cabin was just right for what we were looking for on our trip. First trip there and would stay at this cabin again.
