Head towards the bay to the historic port of Williamstown. From here you can take the ferry into Southbank from gem pier. Williamstown is filled with history there is plenty to explore on foot along the foreshore. Cafes restaurants and shops.
From Newport you have easy access to the great ocean road.
You can explore the local area. Try some bare foot bowls at the local bowling club. The substation is host to a range of functions, weddings, and stage shows.

After a busy day exploring Melbourne and the surrounds come home to Newport cottage and relax in front of the fire.
