'As a bikepacker, I arrived at the Kilmartin hotel with my bike and bags after a long day riding off-road. The room was excellent. All the facilities I need. The staff was very kind and helpful. The local pub in this beautiful and ancient town was situated in the hotel itself. Perfect for having a well deserved pint! Restaurant was excellent! Same goes for breakfast in the morning.'

'Ardfern is a very pretty village and a great springboard to explore Argyll. The decor is dark but there are tables outside and a great view of the loch from the picnic benches out back. The bar area has a great feel and a regular stream of sailors from the local marina'

'Castle at the lake, that's all, really. But it was ok, as we only went there to sleep. Good bar, friendly personnel. The maintenance of the room could have been better and the bed more comfortable.'

'The Anchor was a convenient stay for us as we needed to be close to the ferry to take us to Isla. The staff were very pleasant and check-in was easy. Parking was across the street and convenient as well. The rooms are very small and dated but clean and comfortable. There is a pub next door and many people were enjoying the World Cup so it got pretty noisy but we were able to sleep. We had a fabulous dinner in the Anchor's restaurant. I have a shellfish allergy and they were able to accommodate....
