We had the best time at Sunset Lagoon! Carole and Dale were such great hosts and ensured our stay was enjoyable. There happened to be an issue with the ferry the day we were going and they called right away. The problem ended up getting fixed and we made it to the island! Definitely a much needed respite. My family and I plan to go back this summer. My kids absolutely loved clamming on the private beach!

Dale and Carol are excellent host. They respoded to all my questions right away. They are very kind and made sure we have everything we needed.They take pride of their beautiful property. Its very clean and very comfortable. The host lives upstairs and the rental is downstairs which has its own entrance and lovely patio. They have everything you need to harvest shellfish,( oysters, clams and mussels), which we took advantage of. Yummy!! They also have kayaks, which unfortunately we didnt get to use because of the weather.The property is on a small island, Herron Island. You have to take a small ferry and they only take cash (it will help if you have exact change). Theres no store on the island so make sure you bring what you need. We had a very relaxing 3 nights. Beautiful, quiet, restful location on West Herron Island. Perfect place to relax and reflect and unplug. Hosts were welcoming, kind, and thoughtful. Certianly memorable and appreciated break from "normal". Pup enjoyed her time here as well.

I first heard of this place about 4 years ago. A couple friends came here with their parents and added a third friend as they had a cancellation. Their description sounded too good to be real. So, a year later I came back with them to see if the rave reviews were real… let me tell you!!! THEY TRULY ARE!!!! So naturally I saved the contact info and made a mental note to come again. Tune in to this year and after a birthday in which I didn’t travel to celebrate it, I decided that it was time to return to the sunset lagoon. This time I kept it to my family. It was three of us. My cousin, my auntie and I. Carol and Dale are the ultimate hosts. How friendly they are, how helpful and attentive at a blink of an eye were there to your rescue. Yet when you are settled in they provide you with such privacy you wouldn’t think they were there. Now let’s talk about the food… I am an avid cook and I’m known to be a stickler about cooking from scratch and using the freshest ingredients. Can’t get fresher than getting it from the sea itself!!! With the proper ingredients that we brought with us we had such variety that we were able to prepare it in every imaginable form. Freshly shucked oysters, steamed with Chinese black bean sauce, clams in a sweet and sour, oysters Rockefeller, arroz con mariscos (Peruvian seafood rice dish) were just a few ways we enjoyed this gifts from the sea. If you book this place you will not regret it and won’t be able to wait to return again. I sure will

One of a kind!

Beautiful quiet setting with gracious and helpful hosts. Appreciated the adventure of the private fish farm and with help from the host, we dug clams, mussels, and oysters.

a dreamy weekend getaway!

my partner and i stayed here for a belated anniversary getaway and it was truly perfect. the interior is spacious yet cozy, the exterior is everything you could ask for when staying on the water. dale and carol are perfect hosts, there if you need them but also so good at giving you all the privacy you could want. this home is a gem! you will not regret staying here! we couldn't have asked for a better weekend away from home!

Sunset Lagoon getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The setting was beautiful, our hosts, Dale and Carol, were very welcoming and helpful, and the house contained everything we could possibly need. The icing on the cake was being able to harvest clams, mussels, and oysters for our meals. We would highly recommend this place to any of our friends!

Our second time staying here was just as wonderful as the first. This time, we took our dog with us and it was so dog friendly with the gated porch for him to enjoy! Dale brought out a motor to attach to the row boat so we could go fishing which was great. We even saw some dolphins while we were out! We also went out kayaking later in the day. If you stay, you HAVE to try Carol’s clam chowder recipe in the binder. So delicious!

Dale and Carol were the best host we have ever had in our travels, there property is Ten Star.

Some of the best people I have ever met in my life, we will make this a two to three time a year trip to there property, Clean , well kept place. And the neighbors were awesome as well. This is a lovely place to take your family. We had the best time for our anniversary. Thank you both you are amazing people.

Our family favorite!

This is our family’s favorite place to stay for a relaxing weekend getaway! This is our third time visiting and we always love it here. The view of the Puget Sound is beautiful, home is clean and very comfortable and we love having access to the kayaks and paddle board. It’s a perfect place to unwind in nature. Thanks to Dale and Carol for another lovely weekend. We look forward to visiting again!

Lovely place, inside and out!

Highly recommend this stay to those who want a private getaway with your partner or family! Dale and Carol are friendly and thoughtful hosts. Their place is beautiful, inside and out! The seafood is amazing! The walk to a nearby beach was nice. We also had a couple deer stop by to feed on some carrots we brought with us!

Wonderful hosts and beautiful spot

Our stay in February was more than advertised. Dale and Carol made everything easy and are super friendly. The property was spacious, clean and comfortable. The view is incredible and the shellfish abundant. We walked the whole island in a couple hours and got a sense for the community. Beautiful spot.

Amazing

Dont think twice. Just book it. If youre looking for that *island getaway* this is it. Firepit,bbq, friendly small island community. Youre own private seafood lagoon. Endless amounts of clams/mussels and oysters. Bring the ingredients, gorge on the shellfish.

An amazing 3 days

We wanted a quiet getaway and chose Sunset Lagoon because of the great reviews and the promise of seafood. If you like shellfish, this is the place for you! If you like a serene view and (usually) a great sunset, this place delivers. If you love kayaking or paddle boarding, you have a beautiful place to do it. The owners are kind and helpful. You do need to think through what you need in advance since there’s no store on this island. But that’s just a little planning in advance.

2nd time is still awesome!

I absolutely love this property! So relaxing and yet there are plenty of activities to keep folks busy. Kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, clamming, beach combing, deer feeding, Orca spotting (yup, we spotted some) and so much more. Not for parties or loud group though. Love the owners.

A fun relaxing weekend

The property is beautiful. The owners have thought of everything and provided for you. The owners are very friendly and there to help but unobtrusive. The seafood farm experience was great. There were lots of oysters, clams and mussels. Plus the mountain and Puget Sound views create a very relaxing experience. This was one of our best stays ever. If you like the outdoors you will love it. Just note there are 55 steps to the beach and some are steep and occasionally wet.

Amazing experience for seafood, the PNW, and nature!

This was more than a weekend getaway- this was an experience! Dale and Carol are such wonderful, kind hosts, and the island they live on is a beautiful and unique community with so much PNW charm. We canoed around the whole island and spent the afternoon gathering fresh oysters, clams, and mussels from their seafood farm. Hands down the best clams and mussels we'd ever tasted, even just steamed plain. This was such a treat! The accommodations are very comfortable. It seems recently redone with nice hardwood floors and an extremely comfy bed! There are big windows that give you a gorgeous view of the water from anywhere in the house. We can't recommend this property enough!
