I regularly stay at ITC Royal Bengal whenever I visit Kolkata, and since 2022 it has been my preferred hotel for my trips to India. I usually stay for 2–3 weeks each year, and the hotel generally offers a high standard of comfort and hospitality. A special mention to Jay from the Bell Desk, who has been assisting me since my first stay and always remembers me—something I truly appreciate.
While the overall stay was comfortable, my breakfast experience this time was disappointing. On multiple mornings, service was slow, I was not attended to promptly, and simple orders took an unusually long time despite arriving early. The breakfast area felt understaffed and poorly coordinated.
That said, I want to highlight the excellent service recovery by Debdut Mukherjee, who handled the situation with patience, empathy, and professionalism. He took the time to listen and personally ensured I was taken care of, which made a significant difference. I would also like to acknowledge Rishav and Rohan at the Front Desk, and Traishik from the breakfast team, for their courteous and welcoming behavior.
There is room for improvement in breakfast service coordination, but the dedication of certain team members is the reason I continue to choose ITC Royal Bengal for my stays in Kolkata.
