Nestled in a wild, secluded mountain valley in West Crete, Anasa House is a 150-year-old historic stone ruin meticulously redesigned into a contemporary, design-forward sanctuary. Conceived by its owner and designer, this independent estate bridges the raw texture of historic ruins with sophisticated, minimalist architecture—offering an unparalleled retreat focused entirely on slow living, presence, and natural luxury.

The Living Room: Intentionally designed without a television to encourage complete presence. Sink into the deep, oversized couch, relax in vintage armchairs, or read under dedicated lighting by the wood stove.

The Kitchen & Hidden Coffee Station: A minimalist culinary haven featuring custom pocket doors that reveal a fully equipped station (kettle, toaster, blender, juicer, and coffee machine). Premium integrated appliances invite you to cook up a storm, with all manuals neatly organized above the fridge.

Entrance & Reception: A highly functional entryway featuring vintage cinema seating, custom shoe shelving, and coat hooks, alongside a hidden utility pantry stocked with cleaning essentials and a Dyson vacuum.

The Outdoor Terraces & Enchanted Gardens
The architecture bleeds seamlessly into the landscape, offering multiple stone-walled zones designed for deep relaxation.

The Heated Plunge Pool: A private oasis cut into the stone. Available heated at no additional fee (requires 48 hours advanced notice). * The Avli (Main Terrace): Dine or lounge on the deep outdoor sofas beneath a traditional architectural pergola woven with our own grapevine—feel free to pick and eat them when in season.

Outdoor Kitchen & Walled Garden: A magical dining experience by day or night. Features a premium prep area, stone sink, and a traditional BBQ (charcoal provided). At dusk, switch on the custom rope lighting to transform the stone banquet table into an enchanted world.

The Estate Grounds: Wander through mature organic fruit trees (lemon, orange, nectarine, olive, carob, and wild fig). You are highly encouraged to harvest fresh herbs and veggies for your meals.

Romantic Hideaways: Discover our "Contemplation Cube"—a solo concrete chair placed next to an infinite water fountain—or enjoy a romantic dinner directly under the illuminated canopy of our signature orange tree.

Activities: A full-sized ping-pong table is set up in the garden with all equipment stored safely underneath.

The Stargazing Platform: Built into the historic stone layout at the highest point of the property, this elevated platform offers breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains and sea. Because our village is completely isolated, there is virtually zero light pollution. Lie back in the custom monolithic concrete lounger—sculpted with a dedicated cradle to perfectly support your head—and get lost in the star-scattered cosmos.

The Treehouse Adventure: Found at the rear of the property, this elevated timber retreat is a peaceful sanctuary for kids small and large. Perfect for meditation or reading, lifting the floor trap door reveals a custom treasure hunt adventure.

The Mural Trail: Carefully navigate the narrow stone path hugging the exterior walls to discover a site-specific, contemporary artwork conceptualized and painted by the owner, inserting a vibrant modern element into the ruins. Scan the on-site QR code to unlock its story.

The Laundry Room: Located just outside the front door, featuring a high-capacity washer, dryer, and retractable line. We proudly provide natural, eco-friendly products to protect our mountain ecosystem.

Architectural Quirks & Mindfulness
Anasa House celebrates the beautiful imperfections of history. Because this is an authentic, historic structure, it features unique spatial quirks: the original layout has areas of low head clearance on the staircase and doorframes, and the raw interior walls occasionally shed tiny traces of historic stone dust. Because of our elevated mountain location, powerful breezes can create strong drafts if multiple doors are open—we ask that guests navigate the property with mindfulness and secure windows to enjoy the house safely.

Guest Access & Curated Itinerary
Guests enjoy exclusive, private access to the entire house, terraces, and gated gardens. Upon booking, you will receive our signature, digital Field Guide. This unmistakable, comprehensive guide contains exact self-check-in logistics, house operational tips, and our private, "locals-only" mapped itinerary to West Crete's absolute best hidden tavernas, secret coves, and signature beaches (Balos, Falassarna, and Elafonisi).

Location: Located a scenic, 40-minute drive from the cultural capital of Chania. Car rental is highly recommended to fully experience the region.

Check-In/Out: Seamless self-check-in via a smart lock. Check-out is at 10:00 AM. Flexibility for a later check-out is happily offered whenever a same-day arrival is not scheduled.
