« My family stayed here for a week for celebrations and a family reunion. The property is stunning and the hosts are kind, welcoming and well-informed on the area and property. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen extremely well-equipped (a vitamix!) « Great location. We got there at dusk - tropical pathway lights didn't work - most were smashed. Hot tub was not "locked up" as supposed to be - and cloudy. Did not want to chance a UTI so - no tubbing which was the whole reason we picked this little gem. Sink clogged up, wallpaper paper falling off, possible black mold on skylight above bed. No batteries in remote. We left a day early. I hope they fix it up. »

« We loved our stay at the Volcano lodge! It was very peaceful, the jacuzzi was a nice place to relax at the end of the evening. Even though there were others staying on the property we rarely saw them. The lush rainforest was beautiful! I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again! Thank you! »

Definitely must try renting a property like this at least once in lifetime.However, the inside of the cabin needs some updating in the kitchen and bedroom. Sometimes little details leave a very good or bad impression.Kitchen: toaster did not work, all pans were scratched up and very old. Honestly, I would not want to cook anything in those pats. « Rick and Katy are straight forward to deal with, providing lots of insider information on out of the way experiences on The Big Island. The view from the common area where you can enjoy the healthy breakfast that Rick and Katy provide is peaceful. The veranda is a perfect place to watch the two goats playing in the yard. « This is a beautiful, large house designed and constructed in the 1930s for a wealthy Hilo family. The main interiors are dark wood, with original custom bannisters and similar craftsmanship, and the furnishings are period-correct.
