'Beautiful location set back in large park; rooms are in a purpose-built annexe behind pub, so no pass through noise (although pub was generally quiet and very nice, especially the garden); easy parking; short drive to Hepworth Museum; breakfast was delicious; friendly and efficient welcome. Great option for those looking to break up journey between London and Scotland, or just visiting the area.'

'Hotel is a great price and is a little tired but comfortable and you have what you need for a stop over. Unfortunately chef took ill so couldn’t eat there but menu looked good. Instead they recommended the Dam Inn which was amazing food!'

'The room itself was ok. Strange unpleasant food smells emanating from bathroom. Check in was well explained but tricky getting code on lock box outside in the dark. Relieved to be staying only one night and would not rebook'

'This an impotant historic property with fabulous grounds but has been upgraded to a clinical level. Very clean but no soul. Needs aome fwminine touches. Shelving, pictures, hooks etc. No retaurant facilities or breakfast. Basic but adequate'

'I don’t usually post negative comments but feel on this occasion it’s require based on the room rate. Our room including bathroom was slightly tired and is in need of a refreshment and lacked your normal toiletries for this level of hotel. The mini fridge compressors was very loud and as such led to both nights of poor sleep, not ideal when you book a weekend away to recover. However, the main building was very beautiful and had a nice lounge to relax in the evening.'

I recommend this hotel for business trips,but also for sightseeing and making trips to other cities. Good connection with the bus to Castleford train station. Shops in the area and junction 32 outlet shopping including cinema and multiple restaurants. Also parks and nature in the area for nice walks. Thank you for the nice stay'
