While the location of Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons is beautiful and convenient, my experience was incredibly disappointing. I was charged a $225 smoking fee, even though there was absolutely no smoking in my room or on the balcony. When I spoke to the manager, Brandon (or Brendon), he handed me a printed “diagnostic” report claiming smoking was detected and told me the charge would stand. He advised me to dispute it with my bank if I disagreed—without offering any further investigation.
What concerned me most was the possibility of faulty equipment. I repeatedly asked for a maintenance professional to inspect the smoke detector—to check the battery status and confirm it wasn’t expired or malfunctioning. I simply wanted to ensure there wasn’t a false reading or missed emergency. Despite multiple requests, no one ever came, and I was told no staff was available.
If there truly was an indication of smoke, why didn’t any alarm go off to alert me? This raises serious safety concerns in addition to poor service.
As a guest, I’m highly frustrated. I will not be returning to Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons and am disputing the charge through my bank. I hope management reconsiders how they handle these situations. Until then, I will take my business elsewhere.
