The home is 500 feet from Lake Superior (the cleanest lake in the world!) but it not have direct beach access, the best beach in town is a 5 minute drive. It is just 1 mile from downtown Grand Marais: the "coolest small town in America" just moments from the Gunflint trail - Superior National Forest and countless adventures: canoeing, hiking, swimming, sailing, classes at the North House Folk school and Art Colony. It is directly on Hwy 61, so in the summer if your windows are open, you will hear they highway noise. The advantage to that is that you will have a great deal more privacy, parking and garage space than you will have if you are in the town of Grand Marais, you will also not have the noise of town. The garage offers you a huge area of space to unload gear or prep for a trip to the Boundary waters, day hikes. or store your things for the beach out of the rain and snow. The yard is very spacious and private as well, there is a deck and also a patio underneath by the secret garden.
