'What an excellent property we found! 12 of us stayed for mum's 65th birthday. Welcomed to the smell of mulled wine & mince pies. Nicely decorated for Christmas throughout. Fantastic, peaceful location. Clean and comfortable with plenty of space for everyone. No need to take anything other than clothes, the property had everything needed. Owners were fantastic. Great communction beforehand. Would definitely return again.'

I then received a text message to tell me they could not accommodate my booking and to cancel. 'The bathroom was very dated. It looked like a nursing home. The flooring was extremely old. The bed was too low. Only one bath towel for 2 people. It was definitely not up to standard for a Hub. The staff was friendly and made you feel welcomed. But this hotel needs serious renovations. '

'Unfortunately, the property did not meet reasonable cleanliness or maintenance standards. On arrival, the oven and hob were visibly dirty with grease and residue, and the kitchen overall did not appear to have been properly cleaned. There was no bin provided anywhere in the property, only loose bin bags left for guests to manage waste themselves. The bathroom showed visible mould around the shower area. 'The staff and the breakfast were amazing however the rooms have no shampoo (body wash is not going to do it for me), no lotion, no tissues and no phone. No phone makes it extremely difficult for overseas visitors to contact reception. Even the charming lady on reception who confirmed that these amenities were not offered in the hotel states that they were a budget hotel ‘but maybe not - we are quite expensive’. '
