Wunderbare Ferienwoche

Wir haben unseren traditionellen Familienurlaub hier verbracht und waren sehr begeistert! Wir waren 9 Erwachsene und 3 Kinder (4-10 Jahre) mit zwei Hunden. Wir wurden von unserem Gastgeber David unglaublich nett empfangen und fürsorglich betreut. Immer wieder gab er uns Tipps für Ausflüge in der Umgebung, sei es wo man schön bummeln kann, seien es Wander- oder Fahrradrouten… Es war für jeden etwas dabei. Das Haus ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet (wir haben vor allem das Wohnzimmer geliebt) und es hatte viel Charme. Wir Senioren (66 und 73 Jahre alt) hätten uns ab und zu noch ein kleines Bad zusätzlich gewünscht, aber das wussten wir vor der Buchung und wir sind auch so klar gekommen. Das Haus liegt wirklich im Dorf. Wir konnten unsere Einkäufe alle zu Fuss erledigen. Sehr angenehm! Die andere Seite ist, dass man dadurch natürlich den Straßenlärm hörte, aber das war nicht wirklich störend. Alles zusammen genommen war es richtig, richtig toll und können es nur weiterempfehlen! Das Objekt und die Einrichtung ist doch schon ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen und sehr hellhörig.Wenn man im Sommer abends draußen sitzen möchte, ist die Straße direkt am Haus doch schon sehr laut und störend.Insgesamt ist es vom Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis doch schon ziemlich hoch angesiedelt. Wir hatten insgesamt etwas mehr erwartet.

Denne ferieboligen var i første klasse. Kan anbefales. David er hjelpsom med alt og omgivelsene er nydelige. Vi var en vennegjeng på 8 personer som ferierte her i 14 fantastiske dager.

Schöne Unterkunft, super Lage, alles bestens

Absolut zu empfehlen! Insbesondere die überaus freundlichen Gastgeber/Vermieter, welche mit allen Möglichkeiten den Aufenthalt angenehm machen. Durchaus eine erneute Reise wert. An der Ausstattung sowie dem Zustand der Unterkunft gibt es nichts auszusetzen. Alles ist super gepflegt, modern, funktionsfähig und sauber. Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit.

Alles war sehr schön, super Ausstattung, geschmackvolle Einrichtung und ein sehr netter Vermieter.

Auch der Ort ist reizend, Bäcker und Supermarkt schnell zu erreichen. Einzig die Nähe des Hauses zu der doch leider sehr befahrenen Straße ist schade.

Gîte très bien équipé et bien situé. Proprietaire tres attentif à rendre notre sejour agréable.

Nous avons aimé le blue lake et les autres sites naturels des environs. C'est un beau petit village. L'endroit est idéal aussi pour les ballades à vélo. A recommander pour les familles.

Perfect Family House!

The accommodations at Under the oaks were perfect for our family of 5. (though the house can fit a much larger group) David was most helpful in every way, from helping us with the bicycle rentals (he made sure we reserved them way in advance) to taking us on a small tour of the village and suggesting interesting places to visit in the area. David and his family live in half the house and the other half is the rental. We had a separate entrance, so it felt completely private. The village of Diever is great; the grocery store was a 45 second walk from the house, and lots of little stores and small restaurants within a 5 minute walk. We rented bicycles, which turned out to be the highlight of our trip! There are endless bicycle routes throughout the countryside, most of them are not next to the road like we are used to, but far away from the roads, cutting through the landscape of farmland. So very serene! Everywhere flat as a pancake, super easy bicycling. Diever is very close to several national parks and there are beautiful places all around. Do not hesitate renting from David and spending your vacation in Diever!

Great host, house, and location

We were two families (with 5 kids under 8) staying together and there was plenty of space. This home is conveniently located a few doors down from the grocery store and just a short one to two block walk to an ice cream shop, bakery and bike rentals. Just past the ice cream shop is the entrance to the beautiful park. We rented bikes and David assisted us with this to ensure we were able to get the right bikes and without having to pay the cash deposit. Overall, we had a great stay and are so pleased we chose to stay here - we would stay again.

Charming house in tranquil village

Another great stay in Diever

We also stayed in 2013, IIRC. The Sampsons are friendly and gracious hosts. The town is adorable, with a grocery 3 doors down and plenty of restaurants in walking distance and of course everything you could want in biking distance. The beds are comfortable, toys for the kids and David makes sure you are set up with bikes if you want that, and there's food in the fridge when you arrive. Always a pleasure to stay here!

A home away from home.

Traveling from the U.S., our stay at "Under the Oaks" was a refreshing change of pace for a 3 day portion of our trip. The small town had everything we needed for a nice time away. We enjoyed the village shops and restaurants and just walking around. There was so much more to do in the area than we had time for. We used this convenient location as home base to travel around the area and north. Amsterdam was a reasonable distance and good roads. We were very pleased with the hospitality and kindness shown to us--from a personal tour of the house and village to a wonderful and generous welcome gift. Plenty of space and well maintained. Thank you very much!

Alles da was man braucht.

Wir waren mit acht Erwachsenen und sechs Kindern dort einquartiert. Die Wohnung befindet sich im vorderen Teil eines alten Bauernhauses, das aber solide renoviert wurde. In der Küche und auch sonst war alles enthalten, was man für einen Trip dort braucht. Für kleine Kinder stellt die Treppe zwischen den Etagen eine Gefahr da, doch oben lässt sie sich vergittern und unten haben wir die Türen zum Flur einfach ständig zu gemacht, so dass nichts passieren konnte. Draußen gab es einen kleinen Hof und über einen Fußgängerweg eine Koppel mit Pferden, die von den Kindern gefüttert werden durften. Auch auf dem Hof stand ein Trampolin. Insgesamt haben wir den Aufenthalt sehr genossen, auch wegen der Gasteltern, die wunderbare Gastgeber waren und uns sehr viele Tipps für Ausflüge in der Umgebung gegeben haben. Insgesamt ein super Ausflug.

Still thinking about this wonderful house

I have been home 2 or 3 months and I am still reflecting on this holiday which was faciltated mostly by the wonderful location of this property. We both love countryside and village living and because of the fantastic location of this house we were able to literally have it all. Even the small amount of bad weather added a different aspect to the mood of the area. I have some great memories and photos of my time there. I have stayed in many places but the attention and knowledge from our host was exceptional in planning our stay. The welcome package was the best we've ever had if you like to feel safe whilst cycling then this village is perfect.

A hidden gem in a great location in the Rural Netherlands

We had never been to this part of the Netherlands before and were very impressed at this hidden gem of an area and a property. 2 families stayed for 1 week. The house is in the centre of a lovely village surrounded by National parks and forests. The village has everything a holidaymaker needs (Supermarket, Bike Hire, cafes, restaurants, weekly market) and the accommodation is well equipped. The owner lives in the house behind and is on hand to assist with advice, suggestions of things to do and bookings. When we arrived there was a very good welcome pack left including wine, beer as well as coffee, tea, bread, butter and cheese. Parking is easy and off road. Being Holland it is very flat and great bike riding country and we were pleased to see that there were tarmac bike pathways through the forest making it safe for children to cycle away from cars. For day trips you are about an hour away from the coast or from the border with Germany. However, there is a wealth of information at 'Under the Oaks' with ideas of things to do more locally.

Schöne Zeit über Silvester

Hallo, wir waren mit unserem Kind und zwei anderen Familien (plus Kinder) über Silvester bei Familie Samson und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Haus war in einem super Zustand, die Zimmer sauber, perfekt für mehrere Leute (wir waren insgesamt 12). Ein große Küche, in der wir immer zusammen essen konnten, sehr gemütliches Wohnzimmer und eine tolle Umgebung in einem sehr schönen kleinen Örtchen. Das Geschäft nur 2min vom Haus entfernt, war auch ein großer Vorteil. Familie Samson ist super freundlich, hilfsbereit, aber nicht aufdringlich. Wir können das Haus auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen und haben dies im Freundeskreis auch bereits getan. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen. Vielen Dank für eine schöne Zeit!!!

Familieweekend

Allereerst een prima communicatie vanaf het begin van de boeking. Makkelijk mailcontact, prettig. Bij aankomst, rondleiding door het huis dat al gezellig verlicht was door de kerstboom.Prima huis! Schoon, groot genoeg voor 10 personen.Voldoende handdoeken, bedden opgemaakt, lekkers in de koelkast, echt geweldig! Wij voelden ons echt welkom en hebben, zeker door de sfeer en gezelligheid van het huis, heerlijk kunnen genieten van onze familie. Onze studerende kinderen zijn 's avonds nog met elkaar het café ingegaan, waar zij ontzettend veel plezier hebben gehad. Dit was allemaal op loopafstand dus wat wil een mens nog meer? Great Place to Stay!

We have stayed at "Under the Oaks" quite a few times now. It is a place we like to call "Our home away from home". We have been here with our children and grandchildren and we keep coming back! We couldn't ask for a nicer place to stay. Our accommodations are clean and spacious. David and Monique are excellent hosts and are willing to assist us with anything we need. Waiting for us upon our arrival is a welcome basket filled with food items. We love the small village atmosphere with its shops and restaurants. It is a very picturesque town! Here we can also enjoy kilometers of biking through the forest which lies adjacent to the village. We hope we can come back sometime in the near future.

Highly Recommended!

I have now stayed 3 times with large groups at beautiful “Under the Oaks” farmhouse and can highly recommend it. The location and facilities are just great, very convenient and close to all attractions and the best part that is in the heart of the beautiful town of Diever. Do not hesitate and book it! Ik ben nu al 3 keer op het mooie "Onder de Eiken " boerderij verbleven en kan het iedereen van harte aanraden. De locatie, accomodatie en faciliteiten zijn gewoon geweldig, de boerderij dicht bij alle attracties en in het hart van de prachtige dorp Diever. Aarzel niet en boek deze prachtige accomodatie!

Family holiday

This is our 7th year at Under the Oaks and it was as amazing at it always is. The house is just perfect for the 11 of us ( 7 adults 4 children) David Monique and girls are great hosts and cater to all our needs from the welcome pack to bike hire. The house is in a gorgeous location with plenty to do for all ages, our group ranges from 3 to 68! We have already booked for next year.

A great holiday

We spent a great holiday in Diever. The farmhouse is very comfortable, fully equiped,very clean and the hosts extremly generous and helpful. Supermarket and bike rental are just around the corner . The village centre is a few minutes walking away and suprisingly good reastaurants can be found there + an awardwinning bakery. Walks or cycling in the national park can be highly recomended. Easy to reach even without a car. Good transport links to the train line and the regional center Groningen.

Beautifully decorated and comfortable

The hosts David and Monique greeted us like we were family, and kept that spirit going throughout our stay, including having a few essential groceries on hand for us upon our arrival. The 4 bedroom home was so nicely decorated, with a cottage feel, and everything you need for cooking a meal if you wanted. And the laundry facilities were greatly appreciated. David was very helpful in advising what sites to take in, and even arranged for bicycles to rent for 6 people. The bike paths are all around this small village, with very interesting points of interest to visit along with beautiful tulip fields if you are there in early May like we were. Diever itself is a quaint village, surrounded by open fields and only minutes from other neighboring villages. It has many shops, a bakery, a number of restaurants and grocery stores with every thing you might want, and a great ice cream store open until 9pm. We would highly recommend this as a central location to use when touring this area of Drenthe, which has many interesting stops to make it a unforgettable holiday. We hope to return one day soon.
