I am writing to formally complain about an issue I experienced during my recent stay regarding an improper double charge and the handling of the situation by the front desk.
I prepaid for my reservation through Expedia prior to arrival. Upon check-in, the front desk informed me that Expedia had not released the funds and insisted that I pay again. I was told to “take it up with Expedia” for reimbursement. This response was unacceptable.
As the customer, I fulfilled my obligation by paying in advance. Any issue regarding payment release is a matter between the hotel and Expedia and should not have been passed on to me. The appropriate course of action would have been for the front desk to contact Expedia directly to resolve the matter, rather than charging me a second time.
Requiring a guest to pay twice and then directing them elsewhere to resolve an internal billing issue reflects very poor customer service. I am requesting a prompt refund of the duplicate charge and confirmation that this matter has been resolved.
