  • "Babb Camp", gelegen aan het exclusieve Megunticook-meer, het grootste zoetwaterlichaam in de kuststreek, omvat 5 slaapkamers, een aparte keuken, gecombineerde eetkamer en woonkamer, een aparte tv-kamer en, buiten, een grote familieportiek en onmiddellijke toegang tot het meer. Het huisje biedt een spectaculair uitzicht op de Camden Hills en het natuurreservaat Fernald's Neck.

    Fernald's Neck is een eenvoudige paddle of zwemmen (met een bijbehorende boot) waarover het publiek beschikbaar is. Er zijn 'jumping rocks' voor de sterkere zwemmers en een zacht gebied om te waden voor jongere zwemmers, evenals een picknickplaats en vele wandelpaden.

    Een Amerikaanse zeearend woont de meeste dagen op het terrein en de duikers kunnen zwemmen en horen dat ze elk uur dag en nacht bellen. Vissers kunnen vissen bij het dok of in de vele baaien in de buurt.

    Het huisje ligt op slechts 3 mijl van de charmes van de oceaanstad Camden, met zijn vele prachtige restaurants en winkels, evenals een verscheidenheid aan mogelijkheden om Penobscot Bay te ervaren.

    Gelegen aan de hoofdweg langs een privéweg langs een zacht glooiend, bebost terrein van 2 hectare, zijn alle bewoners langs deze kant van het meer eigenaars van meerdere generaties en moet je ervoor kiezen hier te blijven, dan heb je toegang tot een heel speciale deel van het meer.

We had a great time being in Maine and staying at this camp. Centrally located to everything in Rockland, Camden, and Belfast. The lake was awesome and refreshing when the temps got into the 90s. Look forward to coming back!

We had such a wonderful stay at Babbs Camp and didn’t want to leave. Days spent kayaking and swimming on the lake were perfect. And the house is full of old world charm and history. Thank you to Jennifer and James for accommodating us, we really appreciate it. We would love to come back.

Camp Babbs is always fun. The lake is exquisite and the camp porch gives spectacular views of the Camden Hills. Well appointed and James & Jennifer are great hosts.

We had a great week on the lake! The house was very clean when we arrived and we communicated with Jennifer on a few items during the week and she was very helpful and accommodating. It is a true “Maine camp” with the charm of simpler times that was built by generations of one family and it was a great place for our young family to make memories on our favorite lake. We enjoyed coffee on the porch as the sun came over Mt. Megunticook/Maiden cliff and shared dinners around the large dining table or hanging out in the living room. Our days were filled with boating, tubing, swimming, fishing and canoeing. The dock was a great place to tie up our boat for the week and jump off to swim! No weeds, deep water! The house is close to Camden which made little outings or grocery runs convienent too!

Magical lake camp

Rustic, charming and wonderful experience on the lake. Jim and Jennifer are great to deal with and the "Babb Camp" is everything you'd want in a back to basics lake front experience. We had a tremendous time and would definitely go back!

Quintessential Maine

Such a wonderful 2 weeks. Listening to the loons, waking up to a magnificent view, sitting on the porch, deep water off the dock, kayaking to jumpers rock, fishing in the canoe, enjoying dinners on the harbor, hiking surrounding mountains and soaking in family time. We didn’t want our vacation to end! Huge thank you to Jennifer for being such a great host!

Babb Camp getaway

Another magical stay at Babb Camp with family. Weather was not ideal but did not matter. We love the setting and the lake is so much fun. So much to do even in cloudy weather - hikes for all levels, trips to town, canoeing and kayaking. We will be back!!!

Charming lakefront house

This was our first time to Lake Megunticook and we loved it- there are endless ways to enjoy the lake, we paddled the canoe and kayak across to a picnic spot for lunch, we swam every day, and my young children waded in the sandy shallow portion to search for special pebbles and frogs. The house has a long porch with picnic table and chairs, perfect for enjoying the water views and spotting loons. The house is a rustic seasonal cottage, it has a generous living area inside, including a large kitchen and dining area, a single bathroom, and bedrooms that connect. Owners were very responsive. Thanks for a lovely visit.

Porch for days

A charming old camp on a wonderful lake. The porch is a slice of heaven. The main living space is spacious and cozy, with lots of areas to tuck in, read a book, do a puzzle, and comfortably gather. The kitchen was well stocked. Communication with the owners was easy and super friendly! The second floor had lots of sleeping options and great lake views, but not every room is totally private as you have to walk through at least one. And some of the walls don't go to the ceiling, so it's quite rustic. Just good to know. We had a wonderful stay!

This is a structure built in the late 1880’s so it’s good to recognize that it lacks sound privacy between rooms and will require some sure footedness to navigate the staircases and the walkway to the dock. Given that, it was a magical place for our family to spend intimate time, enjoying the spectacular lake and views and sharing visits from the loons and bald eagle. I used the kitchen for cooking and baking and found it well supplied for equipment. We loved eating our meals outside on the porch! The owners were wonderful about answering questions and otherwise assisting when asked. We would have used the boats but didn’t have pfd’s with us. It’s really great also to be minutes from all that Camden has to offer. We made some lovely memories at the Babb camp during our week.

That Dock...WOW!

We had such a wonderful time at Babb Camp. We cherished our sunny September stay out on that amazing dock with Adirondack Chairs. Coffee in the morning and WOW those stars at night! Lake Megunticook is crystal clear and kayaking was such a joy. The American Bald Eagle visits were a highlight, and sleeping in that room with all those windows, magical. We would highly recommend this beautiful old-world camp to those looking for rest and relaxation with family and friends. M & J

Loved Babb Camp!

We thoroughly enjoyed this charming lake house with beautiful views. Lake Megunticook water is crystal clear and clean with dramatic shorelines. Perfect for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and SUP. We relaxed on the dock at sunrise and sunset and loved playing cards and eating family meals on the front porch. The house had everything we needed and the hosts were very responsive. Would happily stay at Babb Camp again!

Idyllic Maine Lakefront Camp

We have been spending time on Lake Megunticook for the better part of the last decade and it is always a wonderful experience. This may be my favorite spot to date. The camp has the rustic feel of a lakefront camp from a bygone era; flip flops and bathing suit are all that are required. You could not be closer to the lake. We had the pleasure of getting to know the bald eagle that visited each morning and “jumper’s rock” was a simple swim across the lake from the camp’s dock. An absolute delight!

View from the deck cannot be beat

This was our first time renting the Camp but will not be our last. It was our daughter’s first trip to Maine and definitively a memorable one. The view of the mountains and Fernald’s Neck from the house cannot be beat. The weather was variable but the covered deck was perfect as we were able to sit outside during the rain. We saw the resident bald eagle twice from the dock. The bedroom with the king bed and the sunroom were our favorite rooms in the house. Cannot wait for next summer. The hosts were very responsive leading up to our stay and were so willing to answer the many many questions I had. Thank you!

Stay at Babb Camp

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful time at Babb camp. It's a perfect rustic cabin that still provides all the needed amenities. The lake itself is incredible, and the house provides so many great spots to relax and enjoy the views. James and Jennifer were excellent hosts. We had a few small hiccups during our stay and they were incredibly responsive and immediately sprung into action. I would note to future travelers that this property isn't totally secluded. There are neighbors, which wasn't immediately clear from the photos. This wasn't an issue for us though, everyone around is very friendly. We'd definitely come back and enjoy another stay at Babb Camp!

Fabulous stay!

We had a wonderful stay - the house is quintessential Maine camp and oh so relaxing. You can feel the memories that have been built here and it's lovely. We read on the porch, played cards, watched baby birds being fed by their parents, jumped off the wonderful dock into the deep water and were able to dock our boat. The lake is really beautiful with clean, deep water and fun to explore. Jim & Jennifer were always quick with a reply or suggestion. The master bedroom with all it's windows and views of the lake was heartwarming to wake up in, hearing the loons in the night. The neighbors showed us how they feed an eagle and were so friendly. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you for sharing your home! Two things of note, not criticism - the fridge is very small and though they have a ancillary dorm fridge, it was still a tight fit for us. We like to purchase all our groceries for the week for our family so we don't have to leave camp and it just wasn't enough space for us. Second, yes, the neighbors have a large group of friends and family and you could hear them talking and laughing but they weren't being obnoxious or overly loud and they are very friendly.

Amazing heritage cabin right on the lake

One week stay in perfect rustic cabin right on the lake. Amazing sunsets and sunrises. Perfectly placed 5 bedrooms suited two families and 6 kids. Keep an eye out for Freedom the bald eagle!
