Nature, style and tranquility are yours in this spacious light filled guest house. Enjoy the beauty of our 2.5 acre tropical paradise. Ideal for those looking for a quiet retreat with easy access to the city or the beach. Merida is 20 minutes away one direction and the beach is 20 minutes away the other. Enjoy birds singing, starry nights and beautiful tropical gardens with a koi pond, fountains and a jungle like tropical garden.
The space
The property is walled and surrounded by forest, and grass filled meadows. Inside the walls it is a tropical paradise filled with banana trees, guava trees, orange trees, lime trees, anona trees, avocado trees and other exotic fruit trees and flowers. The Guest House sits in the middle of the property with a wrap-around covered porch flanked by a large pool. We live in the hacienda style main house that is separated from the guest house by an inner garden and koi pond/fountain.
Guest access
Both houses share the pool and there is a laundry/ storage/ work area at the far end of the L shaped covered patio in what used to be the garage of the Guest House. This garage area is not part of the guest house rental space. We use that area to do laundry, store things and house pool and water filtration systems so the maid may pop in that area during the day, but it is not visible from inside the guest house so it is very unobtrusive.
Other things to note
We have a huge Spanish Mastiff dog that is gorgeous named Soledad. She spends much of the day inside the main house, but mornings and evenings she is out some. We ask guests to park outside our entrance in our parking area out front so our dog does not accidentally get out if a car is leaving. She is a guardian livestock breed and is an excellent protector from predators. She has never bitten a human and we would introduce her to you. We will try to keep her in the house as much as possible when you are here. But if you do not like dogs or are fearful of dogs, just because of her sheer size, our place might not be a good fit for you. If you are, however, a dog person you will be thrilled to see this gentle giant and this magnificent breed. Soledad is imported from Russian and is a pure bred Spanish Mastiffs.
