Absolutely wonderful stay - the house is large, comfortable and clean. The kitchen is so well stocked - we had more than everything we needed for our meals! John is very communicative and helpful - check-out directions are very simple to follow. The beach is such a luxury - quiet and serene - the gorgeous sunset cannot be beat! Electric fireplace is very cool. There are so many kind little touches - like extra toothbrushes if you forgot yours (which my mother did) - it's clear that the owners went all out to make sure we had an excellent stay, which we did! Would definitely book again!

Our family spent Thanksgiving at this property. It was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of areas for everyone to have their own quiet time. The weather was chilly, but the views from the panoramic sliding glass doors made it feel as though we were sitting out on the beach all week. The house is stocked with two pairs of binoculars, which were snatched up and passed around every time a ship passed by (often)! John & Jahneva were helpful and communicative hosts. They made traveling with our extended family painless. Hauling a toddler, dog, and two sets of grandparents rarely goes off without a hitch, but they made it easy. The house is stocked with everything we could have needed for our toddler. The neighborhood is welcoming and walkable.

Our stay at Oakwood Beach exceeded our expectations! Communications with the host, John, were all positive. The information packet was helpful. When we had one question concerning the operation of the outdoor fireplace, John promptly gave us help. The beach area had the feel and sound of the ocean. We took many pleasant walks on the beach. The house was very clean and there were many small touches such as toiletries, flip flops, sunscreen, etc that indicates the effort by the hosts to provide a pleasant experience. Perhaps the highest praise we can give is that even before our visit was over, we knew we wanted to come back again!

This is the second year that my wife and I joined my daughter's family at this house. We chose it for its location on the river and it having a beach. We brought a small sailboat with us and had a great time on the river and the beach. The layout suited our needs with a downstairs master bedroom. We attended the Cow Town rodeo on Saturday night and enjoyed it. The host maintained good communication via the app. We would recommend this as a great place to stay for a good time on the water.

My family and I had a wonder time at this house Labor day weekend. The house was very clean. The kitchen is well equipped. Beautiful sunsets off the back deck. We used the firepit on the beach almost every night. We enjoyed the Shipyard for drinks and music we rented a firepit here .Would highly recommend.

Awesome place to stay

Hosts couldn’t have been better. Communication excellent. The place was clean and the house was beautiful. Everything you need is in the home including flip flops for the beach!! Neighbors are nice and neighborhood is quiet. Fire pit in the beach made the stay special. Highly recommend you stay here!!

Beautiful location!!

We had an absolutely amazing time spending our family vacation here! With many small children, the bay side water without big waves was PERFECT for our young swimmers and made sitting on the beach much more relaxing for us parents. The sunset views are incredible, and all of the extra water sports gear (paddle boards, kayaks, floats, etc) provided plenty for everyone to do! The neighborhood was VERY quiet, and we typically only saw 1-2 other people out on the beach. Owners were very responsive, very quickly fixed a small issue we had with the TV, and included more extra amenities than I have ever had at a rental (including snacks, beach sandals, extra toiletry items that may have been forgotten, toys, books, games, etc). We definitely hope to return again soon!

Adorable waterfront house

My family and I rented this property for our daughter's University of Delaware graduation week. We knew it was 40 minutes from campus but wanted a nice place for our family to stay while we were in town. The house is spotless. Cutely decorated. The set up of the house is spacious but cozy at the same time. The hosts were easy and nice to communicate with. They honestly thought of everything, from coffee pods, bag of ice in the freezer, phone chargers, you name it, they had it.

They thought of everything!

I have rented many vacation houses over the years and this is undoubtedly the best equipped house I have ever rented. Our group included two 2 year olds and there were many provisions for them, including a life jacket. We had a couple of minor blips that were quickly responded to by John. The house and easy communication made for a wonderful family vacation.

Family Time

Our family had a wonderful weekend all under one roof…every parents dream once your children become adults. The house was perfect for us…6 adults, our 2 year old granddaughter and a little dog. The house was clean, comfortable and had an amazing view of the water. We were lucky enough to witness 2 incredible sunsets! Our host, John, was very accommodating and easy to chat with. Lovely views and home

We had a nice visit to this beautiful, waterfront home, and appreciated the host very much. The views from the beach were lovely. Unfortunately, we were woken several times overnight one night by ships’ foghorns as they passed by- every few hours. Even the white noise machines (a thoughtful touch) didn’t help. Not sure how to predict when the ships come through, but we slept soundly the second of our two nights there. The area is otherwise very quiet- we barely saw anyone else around. The Bankers and Farmers brewery in a neighboring town was a nice outing, as was the walk at Fort Mott.

Pictures don't do it justice!

This house exceeded our expectations! From the pictures, we knew it would be beautiful, but once we got there it seemed so much bigger and brighter than what the pictures show. Its so light and airy and was perfect for what we came for. It was VERY clean, each bedroom came with towels and makeup wipes. You can tell the hosts put a lot of thought into this home. We went in the fall, but was still such a wonderful time walking along the quiet beach and having drinks on the patio. Would highly recommend going on the off season with friends or a couple!

Wonderful, quiet, beachfront relaxation

I spent the past weekend at this fantastic, peaceful home and am planning on going back next year. Everything about the listing and the other reviews are spot on. Great views, well stocked kitchen, everything was clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom spotless, the TV nice and big! What I think is missing (or at least I missed them while reading about the home) are some details that were important to me. The outside table with the sectional sofa is actually a propane firepit - that was a very nice surprise. The bed had two types of pillows - foam and traditional for those who like one over the other. The bathroom was stocked with a few commonly forgotten necessities like toothbrushes and moisturizer. The kitchen has a Keurig for those who like pods and regular grounds for those who like drip. And there was a nice set of snack sized cookies, crackers, etc for those in need of a quick snack. One of my favorite VRBO's yet.

Beach stay

The house was well setup and easy to get into. The living area is all open so it was good for a group to enjoy time together. Outside on the beach was well setup with multiple options for seating and gas fire pit on the deck as well as a fire pit down by the water. Seeing the big boats pass by was interesting, especially at night. Rooms were comfy and everyone slept well. Salem is an interesting town and I would recommend passing it by. There is a package store a couple of miles down the road from the house that was convenient. Other than that I would recommend going further away. About 15-30 minutes away are some nicer towns. Overall the stay was good and host was responsive. I would recommend.

WOW!!!! Awesome

The house was truly amazing. Very clean and homely. The outside area was great, plenty of seating areas. The master bedroom and ensuite was really nice. The kitchen, well we wish we had that at our home! Sunsets were awesome. Truly an amazing place. Our only slightly negative comment is the water pressure from the faucet and master shower was really slow. But apart from that a fantastic and truly relaxing time. The house looks just like the pictures only better :) The owner has little personal touches everywhere, just like a home away from home.

A delightful experience with every need met in advance

We've stayed at dozens of vacation rentals, but usually, they're spartan - providing the essentials, but otherwise leaving it to us to provide everything. At this stay, it was clear the owners love this property and treat it like their second home. We were greeted with a spotless home and every possible amenity, including coffee, wine, music, ambiance, climate control, chargers, and more. It felt like being waited on by a butler who had anticipated our every need. Instructions were easy to follow and everything worked flawlessly. Had there been any problems, it was clear the owners were on-call to respond to our every need. We are picky people and this place suited us to a T. Thank you for creating this perfect refuge.
