The Lago Magico apartment is on the second floor of the 16th-century Palazzo delle Antiche Murre (the Palace of the Ancient Walls) which was once a customs house controlled by the Borromeo family. The builidng is now a combination of commercial activities and apartments.The facade includes graceful pointed arches and columns which have been elegantly restored and filled in with glass panels.

The bright and airy apartment looks out over Lake Maggiore on one side and Piazza del Popolo, Arona\'s oldest square, on the other. The property features a pretty balcony that enjoys spectacular views of the lake and provides the perfect spot for a morning coffee or a drink at the end of the day.

Inside, the apartment features a decorative, exposed brick ceiling and a cool terracotta tiled floor throughout. The open-plan living space is furnished with a sofa bed, a flat-screen HD TV and a dining table and chairs. This room also enjoys a large picture window overlooking the lake and French doors that frame the Rocca d\'Angera and lead out to the balcony. The kitchen is equipped with a cooker hob, a microwave, a Nespresso machine and a fridge freezer.

The apartment is centrally located in the busy Piazza and local bars and restaurants are just a stone’s throw away. Although a car is not required, public parking is available.

Location

The picturesque town of Arona is located on the western shore of Lake Maggiore, directly across from the Borromean Islands. Visitors can take the ferry from the port (a 15-minute walk) and visit the small islands of Isola Bella and the Palazzo Borromeo, the imposing 17th Century palace and its famous gardens.

Arona has a lakeside promenade and a well-preserved historic center with charming streets and traditional Italian architecture. Situated in Piazza Popolo, the apartment is a stone’s throw away from wonderful bistros, bars and restaurants and you can enjoy culinary influences from France, Switzerland and Italy.

A hillside path leads from Piazza del Popolo to the home of the Sacro Monte di San Carlo (a 25-minute walk) and Colossus of San Carlo Borromeo, a massive bronze statue of St. Charles Borromeo. Nestled amongst gardens and chapels overlooking the lake this was once the tallest statue in the world standing over 23 meters tall.

Arona is also a great base to explore other charming towns and attractions around Lake Maggiore, including Stresa (a 25-minute drive), Verbania (a 40-minute drive) and the Villa Taranto Botanical Gardens (a 42-minute drive). Visitors can also enjoy hiking and mountain biking in the nearby hills and forests.
