I’m very disappointed with my recent stay at the Richmond Hotel in Adelaide and feel compelled to share my experience.
Firstly, the hotel website states that car parking is available. While this is technically true, what it doesn’t make clear is that the parking is actually a public car park and the free parking only applies for one visit. This is completely impractical for guests staying more than one night, and we were not informed of this at the time of booking. It created unnecessary inconvenience during our stay.
The website also advertises that rooms include a minibar. In reality, this turned out to be nothing more than an empty fridge with a single bottle of tap water inside. This is quite misleading and certainly not what most people would reasonably expect when a hotel promotes a minibar.
Unfortunately, the room itself was also far below what you would expect from a supposed 4-star hotel. It was not particularly clean and clearly in need of redecorating. The website describes the rooms as being “styled with natural tones and marbled bathrooms,” but this didn’t reflect the reality we experienced. The carpet was extremely worn and overall the room felt tired and poorly maintained.
We were so shocked and disappointed by the standard of the accommodation that we actually chose not to return for the second night of our stay.
