Take a steam train from Bowness to Lakeside, taking in the splendid scenery as you go. Plan an afternoon in Ambleside, 5 miles away, with its independent shops, or to the National Trust's Fell Foot, with its gentle strolls and beauty spots for paddling and picnicking.

Climb five steps to step into the duplex apartment via the main front door. Enter the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which is filled with sunshine thanks to its bay window and offers comfortable space to unwind after your busy days. Sink back into the soft seating in the lounge area to enjoy the airy ambience as you chat about your excursions or settle down to a good TV show or DVD film.
