Our cabin is an ideal location for Northern Lights viewing in the Whitehorse area, there is no light pollution and a perfect view of the northern sky from the comfort of the cabin. Our property is surrounded by Yukon Wilderness, endless trails and nearby historic Lake Laberge. The cabin is newly constructed in 2016, private, clean and comfortable. Our place is well suited for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
This is a 2 room log cabin. There is one bedroom and full bathroom with toilet, sink, shower and heated floor. The main room contains a futon and dining table and kitchenette along one wall. It is conveniently heated with electric baseboards, so regardless of the outside temperature it is always as warm as you want it to be. We have large thoughtfully placed windows in the main room that allow for watching Northern Lights and the feeling of the outdoors inside. The kitchen is equipped with double induction cooktops, a microwave, electric kettle, toaster, coffee press, under counter refrigerator, pots and pans, dishes and flatware, and dish washing supplies. There is a bedroom with a Queen bed and in the main area there is a sofa bed which is ideal for one adult but can fit two snugly. Wireless high speed internet is available in the cabin and outside as well.
The cabin is located about 100 meters from our residence. It faces north and offers privacy and a wonderful view of the Miner's Range and the mountains on the east side of Lake Labarge. Parking is directly next to the cabin. The large mowed field in front of the cabin can be used for ball games or the like, or for setting up your tripod to photograph the northern lights. There is a nice big campfire area with benches in front of the cabin for your use. Firewood is provided and there is a grill if you want to cook something over the fire.
We are busy around the property most of the time and can answer questions if needed.
This is a quiet rural area of mostly agricultural properties and people who love the Yukon wilderness. 5 minutes down the highway by car is Takhini Gas and Tum Tum's Butcher Shop, a gas station with small deli with excellent home cooking, locally grown food products, convenience store and showers. On our property are several other cabins nearby inhabited by local residents, a lovely community of fun people who care about each other. We feel pretty lucky to be able to live here and think our guests will enjoy the good vibe here as well.
We are located 25 minutes from the Whitehorse airport by car. You need your own transportation to get to and from our place. Our driveway is directly off of the North Klondike Highway and access is easy. There is no need for 4 wheel drive, we keep the driveway plowed and the parking area.
We have a large network of trails we access from our yard. We are happy to share these trails with guests but ask that you don't use motorized vehicles on them.
House rules: We ask guests to wash any dishes they use and leave the kitchen clean. Dispose of garbage in the big garbage can outside by the porch.

It's a very beautiful cabin outside the city and we were able to see Northern lights from the dining room. Very nicely planned and maintained cabin and property. Darcy had provided additional information of the trails in the property. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We had a lovely stay. The cabin is secluded, with nearby walking trails. It has a beautiful view. Our only complaint was that it was difficult to find. We'll worth it!

Yukon rush
A highschool friend from Germany, who always dreamt of going to the Yukon and I toured the territory - as much as one can do in 10 days. The stay at Oma's and Opa's was one of the highlights. Allround enjoyable! We stayed three nights.

Great little cabin! Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and very quiet. It’s a bit away from the city itself but if you are heading toward Dawson, you’ve got a head-start! Do take the time to hike up to the bluffs (route shown in the guest-book). We would definitely stay here again!

A beautiful cabin getaway
Oma and Opa’s cabin was the perfect spot for our family to experience the Yukon for the first time. The location was perfect with beautiful scenery, nearby hiking, and within driving distance to Whitehorse. Even with some unpredictable weather, the cabin was cozy and the hosts were very accommodating and responsive to fit all 4 of us. We can’t recommend the cabin enough!

We had the pleasure of staying in this charming cabin, and it was an absolute delight. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the serene surroundings and the cozy atmosphere. The cabin itself was impeccably clean and well-maintained, with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The rustic decor and warm touches made it feel like a home away from home.

Perfect place for a quiet getaway
The cabin was ideal for a quiet time to disconnect (by choice - the WiFi is excellent) and enjoy the big open sky. It had all the amenities needed but still felt simple and calm. We enjoyed the trails coming right from our front door. Would happily return!

I really enjoyed my stay at Oma and Opa's cabin. It was an easy drive from Whitehorse and easy to find. The location was quiet and peaceful. I especially enjoyed the heated bathroom floor and was grateful for the extra outlets to recharge camera batteries, phone and computer. The wifi worked great and I was able to stream a Netflix show without any issues. I felt comfortable, safe and very much at home during my entire stay. I wouldn't hesitate to book this place again and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, well-equipped cabin in the Yukon.

We loved the cozy beautiful little cabin in the woods of Yukon. We went to see the aurora and did 3 nights. Due to La Nina, clouds were more frequent than we hoped. The wifi bandwidth was solid. We found our phones unable to navigate on the weak LTE cell signal when we got away from the cabin.
We enjoyed the trail to "Happy Hour Rock" with its view of Lake Lebarge. The nearby Yukon Wildlife Reserve was another wonderful walk.
A beautiful place overall!

Yukon haven
We stayed at Oma & Opa's cabin for 2 nights while preparing for an extended wilderness trip. We had a slight hiccup finding it, as the link wasn't able to pinpoint the location completely. Our hosts were very quick to respond with directions and we were soon enjoying the gorgeous views of their property. The cabin is an absolute delight! Very cozy and clean with all the amenities needed. We thoroughly enjoyed sunsets on the front porch, and views of the surrounding mountains. It was the perfect start to our adventure, and unfortunately, was already booked when we came back through Whitehorse - we would have loved to stay there again.

Lovely Family Trip
This was a wonderful property, an easy drive from Whitehorse. Darcy was very responsive prior to arrival, and even brought us over a sled for our kids to play with when we arrived. The cabin itself was so cozy and had everything we needed. As noted in the listing, the fold out bed in the main room is quite small. It was even snug for our two kids, so it wouldn’t really work for two adults unless they were ready to get VERY cozy. The property gave our kids a chance to play in the snow which was so much fun. We also had a magical campfire (with s’mores!) one night. Definitely take advantage of the walk to Happy Hpur Rock if you can. The snow-covered path was packed down and easy to traverse and so peaceful. The views from the hill were stunningAl around it was a great stay!.

This is a great cabin to stay at just outside of Whitehorse! It has lovely views and is very peaceful but is only a short drive to downtown and other attractions. The kitchen is well equipped and the books and games in the living area were a nice surprise.
