The views from the property were incredible! The house itself was spacious with lots of old world charm. The deck has amazing views and a great spot to eat and hang out both family while taking in the views. The kitchen window had an incredible view of Mt Ruapehu! There is a swing set for kids and space to go exploring. There are books and toys and activities.We found it lacking in care, maintenance and cleanliness. The toilet/bathroom/bed linen were hygienically clean. However, the floors and ceilings had cobwebs, the backs of the cupboards had insect droppings, the carpets and the lounge needed a good clean and had a musty smell. The BBQ had not been cleaned and was super grimy. The rubbish from the previous guests had not been emptied and the bins were full - so we brought our rubbish back with us. The entranceway is covered in cobwebs and bird droppings. The bathroom tap sprays everywhere - so not a good idea to use the tap once you're dressed to go out! We didn't receive any welcome communication just before our trip and so had to find a number and follow up as our messages via the app weren't being answered. Once phone communication was established our text messages were responded to. Having never stayed at a farmstay before, we were unsure if this standard was what to expect. It was a bit daunting when we arrived and through the first day and it took some getting used to. Some care and maintenance would transform guest experience at the property.
