4/10 – Matig

Think of this as a motel dressed up as a hotel. The rooms look nice, but the mattress is only passable, and the linen are cheap. In the bathroom, the shower doors catch on their hinges less than a year after the hotel’s opening. Hair from the cleaning ladies can be found on the walls and floor. The air-conditioning is very noisy. Breakfast options are few, OK if you are planning a 1-2 day stay; any longer, and the offerings become repetitive. The formula of the breakfast sandwich as the main offering adopted by the Home2 Suites fits poorly with a healthy lifestyle. Fresh fruit options are extremely limited. On busy days, items are not restocked quickly enough, further limiting options. A particularly annoying detail: the hotel charges for parking even though their parking lot is public and shared with 2 adjacent hotels and several other businesses that are part of the commercial plaza where the hotel is located. There are not enough parking spaces to accommodate all guests on busy days, but you still will get charged. Lastly, because this is a budget option, it is a preferred choice for junior sports teams and other social events. This translates to rowdy behavior in the hallways up into the wee hours of the night, not to mention loud conversation outside the hotel which can be heard through the poorly isolated windows. If you’re looking for the cheapest option for a short stay, this property fits the bill. For longer stays, strongly consider staying somewhere else.
