'A unique Scottish hotel that is in the process of being renovated. Food was good and staff friendly, though reception appeared to be unstaffed. My room was one of the older ones so the renovation will be a big benefit but overall the hotel was great value and much better than an anonymous generic chain hotel.'

The building has a lot of character and history, but the room and facilities were spotlessly clean and well maintained. 'I can’t fault the Sure Hotel in Lockerbie. A beautiful building, fantastic en suite room, very clean and modern. Or host, the manager Glen couldn’t have been more helpful. Plenty of free secure parking and we ended up taking a lovely stroll into Lockerbie for dinner. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel, great staff who are so helpful. We’ll definitely be going again. '

'I had a wonderful stay at Gretna Green Hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect for exploring the local area. The breakfast was excellent, and the overall atmosphere was warm and relaxing. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Gretna Green and would happily stay here again.'

'We only stayed for one night so didn’t bother to ask for an upgrade, but I think you should. We stayed in a not yet renovated room and it was definitely not worth the money. It felt more like a run down youth hostel than a 3 star hotel. Bar and restaurant area are updated and that looks promising for the rest of hotel. Would only return if I knew rooms are renovated.'
