We had an excellent stay at Villa Surfside! There were a total of 12 of us (3 separate families) and the layout was perfect for the group - it would be good for a max of 16 or 4 families.The property was very clean throughout and the onsite staff (Massiel and Adonis) were very helpful in cleaning, doing laundry every single day, and always being sure we had fresh towels and anything we needed. Ander and Whitney were great to communicate with both before our stay and during it - answering any questions quickly.The location is very centrally located along the coast - it is a 2 minute golf ride to the town of Portrero where there are a number of restaurants/bars, 10 minutes to Playa Flamingo, and 10 minutes to Playa Brasilito. Tamarindo is about a 35 minute car ride away. And right next door to the villa is a great coffee shop called Nita Coffee and also a gym for those that work out and that is included as well.Overall we had a great experience and would highly recommend a stay here!!

The villa was wonderful. It was nice that we each had our own space but also had a place to gather as a group. We really enjoyed the daily breakfasts. They were very filling and tasty. The housekeeper did a great job cleaning each day and also washed a load of laundry for each room. The property manager helped arrange our transportation, some activities and practicing some groceries. Everything went smoothly. No issues at all.

Our stay at this gorgeous villa was absolutely perfect. Our only negative comment would be that the host/housekeeper was not very friendly. She did an excellent job of cleaning and cooking breakfast but she did not seem to enjoy her job. We had 2 family members who spoke fluent Spanish but that did not seem to make any difference in her demeanour.

Great property for large family or groups. Everyone gets their own master suite!. Our family (8 Adults and 5 teenagers) had a great time. Kids were happy to have their own rooms, adults had plenty of space to relax and spread out. Very very clean, daily room service (including laundry), and fresh made breakfast. Lots of restaurants nearby (Walkable and driveable). Only negative... makes it hard to come back home!.

We loved the property. It was perfect for our group of 4 families. Everyone had their own room. The pool has a wall which prevents little ones from walking into the water. The golf carts ended being a real asset for getting around the area. The morning breakfasts were a nice addition. We loved Costa Rica!

The place itself is fantastic! Works perfectly for groups who want to be together but still maintain a level of privacy. Rooms were wonderful, beds were very comfortable and the pool was a great gathering place. The communication and accuracy of a lot of things was totally off, which was frustrating. I was told the pool was maintained at a specific temp, there were pool inflatables, and outdoor showers in 2 units, none of which was accurate. Wasn’t told the ice machine was broken until arrival, kind of a big deal. Ordered a 2nd golf cart - wasn’t there upon arrival. Didn’t bring cart until Sunday morning. Do not book any excursions whatsoever through house. Prices change and are inaccurate if not directly through the company of the excursion. We loved our driver, and wanted him to take us around a couple days, but management was insistent we book through them so we didn’t do it. The chef was beyond fantastic - but attempted to charge us an additional 450 the last night we had them - despite what we agreed to - We booked a couple excursions with companies directly and had zero issues. Recommend that route.

The BEST of Portero, Costa Rica

Our Rotary Club annual travel group trip was to Costa Rica this time and we stayed at this property because we were 7 couples and wanted to all stay together. This Exclusive Retreats Surfside is the perfect location for a large group who is looking for the top quality in their accommodations. The owners and manager were always available and responsive. They helped set up transportation from the airport and the private chef and massages. They arranged for the golf carts for us to use and gave us information on tours and restaurants and attractions in the area. The house staff were there every day and made us a complete breakfast every day and would even wash our clothes when they were cleaning the rooms if requested. They have filtered water and an ice machine and multiple refrigerators available. Everyone in our group was very impressed with the property and we will definitely want to stay here again if we ever get another chance to return. Thanks to all of the Exclusive Retreats team.

Great property and location, but some issues with management

Our recent stay in Costa Rica was a blend of breathtaking beauty and some unfortunate management mishaps. The property itself is stunning, with an ideal location adjacent to the beach and various activities. The natural surroundings and the convenience of the location added immense value to our experience. However, we encountered several issues with the management that need addressing. The booklet provided for suggested activities contained inaccurate pricing information. Additionally, the check-in and check-out times listed were incorrect, causing some confusion. A significant problem arose with the transportation service. The driver attempted to overcharge us by manipulating the conversion rate and insisted on charging us for a trip that some of our party members missed due to illness. When we requested a receipt or any proof of his claims, he disappeared, which was quite unprofessional and unsettling. Despite these challenges, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The natural beauty and prime location of the property are undeniable. We hope that the management addresses these issues to improve the overall experience. With these changes, we would love to return and enjoy another wonderful stay at this property in Costa Rica.

Vintage Girls 50th Trip

Wow! This property is a hidden oasis in Potrero! A group of 12 ladies came to live the Pura Vida life in Costa Rica for one week and stayed at this wonderful retreat. It was a fabulous location to celebrate our 50th. We were close to restaurants, coffee shops, the beach of Potrero Bay and Flamingo. The rental was exactly as it was portrayed in the listing and exceeded everyone's expectations. The kitchen was well appointed and had a large table to accommodate our group. The water cooler that delivered cold water and soda water was much appreciated as well. The living space was comfortable for relaxing, chatting with friends or taking a break from the heat. Each guest room was spacious and had lovely, unique decor. We definitely enjoyed how each room was mere steps away from the fabulous pool in the centre of the property. The gold cart was very useful for cruising the local streets! We also can't say enough kind words for the attentive Consierge Salvador, and our onsite team Octavio, Lauren and Massiel. They provided a beautiful breakfast each day, clean linens and towels, and worked throughout the day to maintain the property and address any needs we had. These ladies even did our laundry and returned them folded to each room! Muchas Gracias! Salvador made all of our dinner reservations and dropped by each day to check in and see if we needed any assistance during our stay. All of us truly had an amazing time and will definitely visit Costa Rica again someday!!

Extremely Relaxing Comfortable Stay In Potrero

We had a large group of mostly adults with some teenagers and one small child. The best part about the villa was the overall layout. The rooms are private, but there is easy access to the common spaces and the kitchen. The neighborhood is vibrant during the day and evening and quiet at night. The staff was incredible, preparing breakfast each morning and cleaning in the afternoon when people were out (it was always spotless) and even doing laundry when we needed it! The concierge service was really helpful booking excursions for our group and the drivers for all the tours remained the same so we had a familiarity of who was taking us around. In addition, I was able to talk with the concierge any time I needed to and they were flexible when changes were necessary. We would definitely stay there again!

Our yoga group loved our time at this property. The staff made us feel very comfortable and took excellent care of us. Definitely glad we opted for the use of the golf cart as it was a great addition to help us get around. Check in and out was very simple. We highly recommend this property for your next group or family vacation.

This property was great for our group of 9 ladies for our annual diva trip. Lauren and Esteban were on point every morning with breakfast and clean accommodations. We were here for 5 nights. The golf cart came in handy for nearby stores and restaurants. We highly recommend this location.

A beautiful home away from home!

We brought seven couples to the island to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We were greeted by the wonderful staff and beautiful king-size rooms. The home delivered on everything it promised!! Breakfast was delicious! The ladies cleaned our rooms and clothing daily. Esteban, our concierge, was very pleasant and attentive. No complaints. We’d rebook in a heartbeat!!

Fun Villa

The Villa fit our family perfectly. All couples had their own separate room and patio. The kids shared rooms which also worked out great. We were able to enjoy Potrero, Playa Flamingo and local breakfast bakeries via the 6 passenger golf cart. Super fun to use!!

Beautiful and spacious

Our stay at Exclusive Retreats was exceptional. The property is brand new and is better than the pictures. We had 7 couples and everyone had their own room which is actually compared to a large hotel suite. The beds were soft and comfortable and the rain showers were very cool. The location of the Villa to restaurants and beach was perfect. The Villa is located just across the street from Potrero Beach. The beach is so scenic and great for swimming. The house was equipped with all the beach chairs and umbrellas for the entire group. We were able to enjoy the Chef a couple nights and for morning breakfasts . The food was amazing. The staff was great and helped us with booking some of our excursions. It was so nice to be close to everything and we felt like we had our own private resort just like they said we would. We would highly recommend staying here.

Amazing villa!

This property is amazing for a large group. We had 18 people with plenty of room for everyone. The pool was a highlight for the group. Having all the rooms surrounding the pool was nice. We all had our own patios. The rooms were very spacious and very comfortable. The best part of this house was everyone had a great room. This made it very easy so no one felt that they got the crappy room which happens to someone in the group everywhere we travel. We enjoyed being across the street from the beach and different restaurants. Everything at this home was new and very clean. The staff was really nice and helpful. Next time we will stay longer. This is the best house we have ever rented as a large group.
