Provence Stone Cottage - A Wairarapa Retreat with spring water and natural power

  • Prachtig milieuvriendelijk en duurzaam stenen huisje gebouwd van steen en inheems hout met een prachtig uitzicht op vallei, rivier en bergen. Dichtbij Carterton, Greytown en Masterton.

    Drink puur artesisch bronwater terwijl je luistert naar de overvloedige vogels op je veranda. De 225 hectare grote woning heeft een eigen schoon zonne / hydro energieopwekkingssysteem en het water komt uit een artesische bron - getest om de behandeling te overtreffen
    huishoudelijk water.

    Maak een bush-wandeling in het National Park aan de overkant van de rivier, verken Mt Holdsworth, ga fietsen, golfen of raak gewoon de wijngaarden en restaurants voor een levendig plezier.

    Ongeveer 20 minuten naar Carterton / Greytown / Masterton of minder dan 30 minuten naar Martinborough is dit een avontuurlijke ontsnapping die ook dicht bij het 'goede leven' van Wairarapa ligt!

We had a really wonderful relaxing time and enjoyed being off the grid. Beautiful rustic cottage and amazing star gazing! We also loved Charlie the dog. We’d love to come back!

The cottage was exactly as described!A fire had been lit and kept the place warm, ready for our arrival. It made for an extra cozy night after travelling 4 hours.Charlie popped in for a few afternoon visits, what a handsome boy!We also managed to hike up the trail behind the cottage for some spectacular views!Could not recommend this place enough, it truly hits all the marks!

Off grid escape

We loved breathing in the bush air from the porch or the outdoor shower, cosying up to the fire reading a book, having a romantic bath and getting away from the screens! A lovely relaxing stay and we will definitely be back.

True getaway from everything!

Fantastic romantic retreat in the middle of nature. Loved the extra large bath and outdoor shower, but the amount of stars to see at night is just beautiful! A true disconnect from everything to relax, read and take in the amazing scenery.

Adventure house

We were craving some isolation, some lush family time, and this place was perfection. I only wish we'd stayed longer! My toddler loved sitting on the deck watching the bees in the rosemary and walking down to visit the dog.

Perfect getaway

Charlie was the best - what breed is he? Loved the bath and fireplace and the character of the place. Enjoyed playing guitar on the porch, going for walks with our new friend and using the well equipped kitchen. Would love to return.

Escape from the rain

We had a cozy stay at the Stone Cottage. Our hosts were very lovely and accommodating, and their very special dog came to visit us for a scratch each night. The surrounding area is gorgeous - even in what turned out to be a rainy couple of days. The sun came out long enough for a hike up to the top of the hill for a beautiful view of the Wairapa. The wood stove kept us warm, and the bath was a welcome end to each day. Looking forward to visiting again with family!

The perfect escape.Waking to birdsong and the murmur of the river; the valley breeze bringing the landscape to life; hiking through nature’s playground to THAT unforgettable view; lazy afternoons with sun-kissed skin immersed in our books on the balcony; vibrant sunsets and, oh, the night sky in all its brilliance! The stone cottage had everything we needed for a memorable off‑grid Easter: thoughtful kitchen accessories and touches, fresh flowers, crisp linen, a delightfully rustic outdoor shower, and more than enough firewood to keep the fireplace glowing. We could not have asked for more. Pure tranquility.

Cosy weekend retreat

Lovely stay in the middle of nowhere. Much needed break from the chaos of the city and working life. Everything was good about the place. Having an outdoor shower was definitely not something I'm accustomed to but was interesting in the wind and rain thats for sure! Cheers guys

Five Days in Provence

This small cottage in the steep, verdant hills of West Taratahi will surely take you back years to a much less hurried and harried time.Unplug your phone and recharge your soul. The repurposed interior doors and rough-hewn kitchen cabinets, counter top and tree-trunk end caps are enchanting. Well done Kieran and Susie.
