Scrabble House Compound - is a land mark Taos vacation rental home rental - offering a great dining / kitchen open floor plan. This room boasts a 10 foot long copper clad counter and breakfast bar where guests love to gather, visit with the cook and pitch in to chop veggies. Our gracious owner has provided ample cushy seating in the living room including a computer table and chairs for computer buffs. The 3 bedroom main house comes equipped with a 4th full guest bathroom for children and teens sleeping on the Hidde-a-Mat topped cots leaving the 3 King master bedrooms with total privacy. This means 3 bedrooms with "in-suite bathrooms" that do not have to be shared. The Compound also includes a 2 king bedroom Casita which sleeps 4 equipped with its own kitchen.

Located on 2 full acres, Scrabble House Compound offers wide open landscape with native desert sage and sweeping mountain views north, south, east and west. Situated on Ski Valley Road with an uninterrupted drive to Taos Ski Valley and a short 4 mile drive into town makes this "Taos lodging find" a popular choice for groups going in opposite directions for vacation fun (golfing, rafting, hiking, painting, skiing, dining, exploring, biking, fishing, researching or shopping). For your streaming pleasure enjoy the newly installed Fiber-Optics wi-fi.

For our Texas audience who believe summer lodging must include air conditioning - Scrabble House comes equipped with an "Evaporative Cooling" system - designed specifically to function in dry desert conditions. In addition, there are 3 ceiling fans and 4 large portable fans to insure cool conditions for our "very few" hot summer days.

There are a security cameras installed facing the driveway, on the front porch facing the road and on the roof facing the casita and its driveway.

Perfect ski weekend vacation home!

We cannot say enough great things about our stay at the Scrabble House! We had two sets of families with young kiddos and our grandparents. The space was the perfect layout and had everything we needed and more! The drive into town and the ski resort was easy to navigate. The property host was also so helpful and helped us all weekend. We highly recommend the Scrabble House!

Enjoyable Family Time

Our family of 8 had an enjoyable time at the Scrabble House. The property manager was very helpful and responsive. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen and a bathroom for each bedroom. The fenced yard worked out well with the dogs that were along. Nice location!

Perfect location for our family to stay while attending our grandson’s wedding.

There were seven of us in our party . My husband and I our daughter and granddaughter, son and his wife and my brother-in-law. Plenty of room for all of us and enough spaces to find some privy time. We had time to go to the Rio Grande Bridge , the Farmers Market and explore the town.

Great Memorial Day stay

My friends and I had a great time at Scrabble House over Memorial Day weekend. Comfortable rooms, plenty of room to stretch out, huge kitchen for cooking, and the outdoor space is amazing. Awesome views. The property manager was great to work with. This is a great vacation home for a large family or a few couples, as each bedroom in the main house has its own bathroom.

Property in Disrepair!

Upon arrival, the keypad on the front door did not work. There was trash and cigarette butts throughout the outside grounds of the property. There were a number of maintenance issues as follows Main House: Missing plastic shower curtain in guest bathroom Dead bugs throughout Spiderwebs throughout Broken sink & shower drain in front bathroom Broken towel rack in back bathroom No kitchen sponges to wash dishes Loose doorknob in 4th bathroom, unable to open/close the door Casita: No kitchen garbage can Broken window in the casita door,shattered glass shards Broken window crank in kitchen & bathroom window Leaking Fridge Dead bugs throughout Broken Lampshade in bedroom Loose doorknob to bathroom Broken light switch in main living space In addition to the above, the following items are advertised though did not work: TVs did not have cable access as advertised, Casita swamp cooler was barely able to provide some cool air in the main living space Main House swamp cooler can only cool kitchen/living space, not entire home While attempting to remediate during our stay, we learned that nearly the entire list of issues were KNOWN prior to our arrival. As shared, I had hoped to remediate with the homeowners and unfortunately, it took well over a week after check out to receive a two sentence response that “They (homeowners) also feel that Terra (house manager) has given a valid explanation for each of the items.”

Property was in need of a serious pest control visit, spiders, termites, ants and a few scorpions were encountered daily. Main House- several maintainance issues including plumbing, fans, ice maker, baseboard heating units. Furniture was old and in some cases needed replacing. Guest House- several maintenance issues including plumbing and windows. In general both house needed a deep clean, floors, furniture and bedding.

Wonderful stay in Taos, the home had everything we needed and was extremely spacious for the 3 couples we had in our group. Great location in between town and the mountain! Communication was very easy with the property manager, and the space was very clean.

Accuracy of online listing 5+ Stars!!!

This was a beautiful property! The description online only begins to describe what you get. When you walk in the door, you realize you have gotten so much more! In the main house, all the rooms have their own bathrooms! The privacy in the Casita was awesome!!! There is a hot tub, which was perfect for relaxing sore bones after shopping in town all day and star gazing! The house offers so many other options including being able to log into your own Netflix or Amazon Prime which allowed us to share a really good movie with the grandparents! There were board games to play around the large dining table. My only regret is that this house is so comfy, a 5 night stay flew by. We LOVED the fireplace on a cold night. Thank you for sharing all the wood!!! We hope to be back next year!!!!!!!

Mountain get away

Great place to relax with family. Mountains surround the property on all sides. Quiet, outdoor areas to enjoy, space to gather together or retreat for a bit of privacy. Lots of beautiful places to drive, hike or bike and plenty of places to shop or visit museums. Our host was wonderful and responded quickly with answers to questions.

Wonderful Christmas Ski Vacation Rental

The Scrabble House was perfect for our extended family get together for a Christmas ski vacation in Taos. We had 3 generations staying in the two houses and there was plenty of room to spread out. I loved that each room in the main house had its own private bathroom. We were able to cook family meals with ease, gather at the large table to eat and play games, and go skiing or shopping during the day — each drive was close by. A huge shout out goes to a very gracious Terra, who came over with a spare key on Christmas Eve when my son locked himself out of the guest house. We brought our two dogs and took them on walks each day. This was a very special vacation and everything was perfect!

Great space for large family gathering

Location was great (sense of being away from things, yet so close to town), scenery was remarkable, well-stocked kitchen, lots of room for our crew. (5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms was great!). Only downside, wi-fi was spotty, didn't allow everyone to be on at the same time and lighting in master bedroom (especially) and kitchen (somewhat) was really dark. Overall, we loved the place and will mostly likely return!
