'The staff at the Hampton Inn were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast offered daily was basically as good as one might expect of hotel pre-prepared food. Yet the person managing the breakfast area kept it very neat. She even offered to bring us more coffee! She remembered guests that come through from time to time. So one feels welcome and a little more uplifted after breakfast. The front desk person was likewise friendly although I didn’t have as much interaction there.'

'It was -12 on Portage Lake and we cranked the heat pump up to 75. The Birds Nest cabin needs another heat source. Upstairs was cold when we got back at 10:30 pm after leaving the heat on all day in the cabin.The two full size beds that are pictured is one that’s on the bottom of a metal bunk bed frame and the other is upstairs where the roof is pitched so one side has no head room to accommodate two grown adults.New owners shut the water off for the winter. Didn’t know that until the day we left...
